My boyfriend is selling his car and is looking for something under 10k. I found a red 2000 Grand AM Gt for $7995 with 70,000+ miles. Would this be a good deal? Im kinda excited cause Iv always wanted us to have the same car.

I would think that sounds good, Amanda. I just bought my 2000 GT1 last month and I paid $ 8900.00
But the condition is immaculate and I have the history of the car too, so I was pleased with my deal. I bought it from the same Pontiac dealership from where the car sold new in 2000.
Watch for more responses from others here, as I am relatively new to the forum; my knowledge is not quite as good as others here.
Good luck !
Tommy
sounds like a good deal to me as well.

From http://autos.yahoo.com/kbb/ :
Mileage: 72,000
Condition: Good 1
Engine: V6 3.4 Liter
Transmission: Automatic
Drive: FWD
Equipment: Air Conditioning, Power Steering, AM/FM Stereo, ABS (4-Wheel), Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, Single Compact Disc, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, Cassette, Rear Spoiler, Tilt Wheel, Traction Control, Dual Front Air Bags
Private Party Value: $6,405
Retail Value: $8,520
Obviously I'm making lots of assumptions as far as number of doors and options and condition, but as a starting point you seem to be in an ok range.
I agree with Tommy00GT1 though, there are lots of people here with experience buying that will eventually see this thread and tell you how it matches up.

having the same car as your other part is WAY overrated. trust me...dont focus your search on grand ams, but if its the best deal you can find then so be it.

Sounds like a relatively fair price, maybe try to kick it down abit tho, just because of how poor the resale value is.
Check the LIM :)

Shoot anyone want to give us $7500 for our 2000 GAGT?
I'll even throw in the subwoofers, snow tires and wheels, and all the stock parts. :)
It's not a bad 'dealer' price, but you may be able to find a lower one privately.

yea usually private dealer sells better. i got mine nearly new....only 14,8xx miles on it, this was last november and its a 2003 GT1. the price on there was roughly 14,995+tax. and the OWNER said he take off 500 cuz my birthday was coming up. well tome 500 isnt that much of a deal LOL. theres a white 4 door down here only $4995 i think its a 2001-2002. not sr eon th emileage. but when i was shopping around if a grand am was liek only $5,000 it had to have had liek 80-100,000 miles on it. sooo, in other words, (sorry for rambling)id say thats a good deal

Come down to central PA, wher the people are poor, but the cost of living is insanely low.
I just aw a 2002 SE v6 with 64,000 miles for $5599 on Wild Man Cody's Used Car Lot.
My Brother bought a 2004 Dodge Stratus with 11,000 miles for $9500.
Now, im not sure but isnt that prety low?

$500 isnt much of a deal to you, huh? Mind getting paying for me to redo my exhaust then? :) j/k I think once GA's hit a certain mileage the price goes down a whole lot. I was just offered $8k as a trade in for my GA today... was soooo tempted to grab a '99 TA for it.
