While I see no problem with your hobby I can tell you this; There are way too many overly politically correct people here that will for some reason waste thier time to flame the hell out of you at the first mention of a race. Since your new here I thought I'd fill you in . This thread will grow with insults, you can take that to the bank. ... people with nothing better to do, let the flaming begin.

As a side note, all racing stories are to be posted in the "race" thread to which you have to ask for a free subscription to do so. I don't see this post as a race story since you did not go into detail with a race story & the main subject of your thread is to disclose your unhappiness of having to go to the bodyshop for a second time in 1.5 months.

In fact I'll probably get blasted with insults for the above post.

Hi everyone... No insults from me, JoeyK...I too am tired of paying enormous insurance rates. In fact, I applaud your remarks.
Have a great weekend everyone.

How were you racing and only going 55? Either way, street racing = bad if the drivers can't keep their cars under control. It sucks but, it's expected, ya know?

I too used to get in a few races when I lived near the south side of Indy. The area where Madison ave & US31 meet is, or atleast was, at the time a hotbed for street racing & cruising.

hmm one time i did something like that, but i saw the guy take out a nother car that had nothing to do with it. i was stoping, and he just kept going, going and going, like 90mph right towards the redlight and rearended a whole line of people. idoit

On the way to the body shop you might want to stop by the how to race with stupid morons school. If you can't fly by them don't drive beside them.

See, I know i'm the best driver in the world.. it's the other driver who isn't.

But to stay on topic...

Yeah I have to agree, street racing isn't good. When people make poor decisions they have to be ready to suffer the consequences if they happen.
(I raced my best friends father at a traffic light once.. just really short for kicks.. wasn't serious....)

Wow, this is the second time today I totally agree with you. if the opponent is an unexperienced morron I would bow out & say they aren't worth the risk.

i am a little confused on why people are flaming him so much...sure he was street racing but if u are honesy about it i am sure everyone has done it. and 2 his friend is the one who lost controll not him. so how does that make him a reason for high insurance??

Because he's posting for sympathy, from what I read into it.

And now his insurance will pay for the damages...do you think they give out money for nothing? Think of how many people in the U.S. have had similar "accidents". Why should we suffer for it? I doubt if he was racing because he had to get the hospital to read stories to sick children...no, it sounds like he got baited into a race, so therefore his problem, his fault, his lack of common sense.

Nope, ins. companies are a big scam for the most part. They use anything for an excuse to keep your premiums high. But when you try & use what you pay for look out! You may be in for one hell of a fight to get your car fixed correctly because they don't have a problem taking your money but paying for your repairs they do have a problem with. I can see raising a persons premiums if THEY are accident prone but to say we all pay for it, is b.s. well all pay high prices to keep the fat cats living high n mighty.

Anyways, to answer your first question refer back to my first post in this thread.;)

No insruance is not covering it. No cops so insurance. Hes paying out of pocket. Also the reason we were only at 55 is because we had just taken off. I live to race. Thats what i do. Shit happens.

If you "live to race" why the h*ll do you own a Grand Am? Unless you poor money into these things by the bucket load, they are no match for most cars on the road.

wrong friend... spend 2k american get the turbo kit from DPP, spend another 2-3k on supporting mods, and for probably around 10k including car you have a car that will eat stock LT1's, stangs... etc. Todd ran a 13.7 with his setup, that was with an auto too, imagine that turbo with a 6 speed from the G6...

These cars are cheap now.. more money to spend to soup 'em up.

ya but they don't have the potential like other cars...you put 10k into a stang and 10k into GA the stang is gonna win. Our cars are meant for the mileage, NOT the power

But also think of it this way. With the gas prices beginning to soar, would you rather feed a v8 or a v6? And if you can get it the same power range as some of the v8's you have a bargain in insurance savings alone, not even counting how much you'd save on gas. Don't get me wrong, I love a good ole v8 for the torque & power but it's just another angle to look at. Not everyone has the same preferences or thinks alike.

I love the V8 power too but why put so much money into a car if you risk it all by racing and idiot at the wheel.

I know ill probly supe my GA up but its gonna be more for my sense of wanting more power. Not racing.

I'm gonna be simple.... more power = more stress on engine = more parts that will break or wear out sooner than they should wear out

:slap: You're an idiot.

Like Dave said, if you "live to race" keep it at the track and off the street. But because you're 18 and invincable, you don't have to worry about consequences. You don't have to think about someone possibly turning in front of you at 70mph, or a tire blowing out, or any of that shit. If you "live to race" than get a race car and stay at the track. I hope to God you get busted one time and they throw the book at you. :roll2:

I can believe you would race someone that cant even drive! You should kick that guys ass and take the keys to his griggin audi... if someone hit me while we were racing, you had better bet some one is getting hurt in the process. That is some dumb bullshit.

... I really hope you are being sarcastic simply to make a point :( ... anyway, on topic, I only have a couple things to say because I can't really say too much being I have been known to have a quick little race off a set of lights or similar ... basically, there is NEVER a good place to race on public streets and you are putting everyone else at risk when you do it so I feel you are quite lucky if the other driver is paying for anything being you wouldn't have got a dime out of me ... put bluntly, it takes two to tango and you BOTH were equally at fault being neither one of you should have been there :( ... do yourself a favor and take your 'need to race' to the track where you can doing it safely and more important, everyone else remains save!!
