99+ 2.4 owners...whats your mileage?

i have a 99 4 door malibu with the 2.4. ive got a couple questions....how many gallons is the gas tank? it should be the same as the GA, but maybe not....

also, what are you guys getting mileage wise...people with a 2.4 and preferably a 4 door GA or malibu. how many miles a tank? i seem to be getting around 20 MPG city, which is all i drive. it seems kinda low for a 2.4 4cyl..........what are you getting?

I am not sure the tank size, it may be a 13?? Not sure but I have a 2000 GA 2.4 with the factory ram air. I seem to get pretty good mileage, I am not exactly sure but it was about 300-350 miles to about a 3/4 tank of gas. I ran it down til a 1/4 full or so.

IIRC, you have a 14 gallon tank, and youre getting about 25-27 MPG.

How much of that is city driving though? My 2.3L 4-banger gets 21 mpg so your 20 might not be unrheard of. (Not sure how much the two engines compare however). I looked up my milage for my 94 SE and it was rated at 20-22 mpg city.

usually all of my driving is city unless i have to go somewhere on the highway.

i get about 260-280 miles on a FULL tank. thats with the gauge reading above the full level.....

I don't have 99+, but I do have a 97. I get about 20/21 all city and 27/28 90% highway. I'd say you are on par.

I thought I read on here somewhere that the bangers get worse mileage than the 3.4 .. Though I don't know that for sure :shrug:

according to fueleconomy.gov...the 2.4 malibu is supposed to get 22 city, and 20 highway. i guess my 20 MPG isnt too off after all....still seems kinda low for a 2.4 though....

I fill up when I have a quarter tank left and I only get about 180 miles with 3/4 a tank in city. Its not very good. But when I drive to anchorage which is 6hrs of highway time I get 300+ miles.

For the most part, the v6 in the newer GA gets better mpg.
2.4 is 22city and 34Hyw
3400 is 21city and 34Hyw

I don't know my mpg but I'm a little over half and I went about 130miles.

i have a 97, and i usually get about 20mpg... but i dont drive gas friendly.

99 2.4 gets about 23/25, somewhere in that range. thats 40% city, 60% highway. glasspack saved a couple miles per gallon. About 250-310 average per tank
