Steering seems stiff when parked.

Yea, to me, the steering feels a bit stiff. I want to know how much steering effort there should be?

It should be stiffer when sitting still compared to moving.
when moving the part of the tire touching the ground is also moving which make it eaiser to turn.

yeah, you shouldn't try to steer when parked it'll wear on your power steering pump quite a bit.

oh ok. I came from an alero and that car had problems. But when it was sitting still, it seemed easier to turn than the grand am. But then again, the steering rack and pinion was replaced and other things sooo i don't know.

Did your Alero have the 2.4L? If so, it had as different steering system, which is slightly over-powered compared to the variable effort of the V6 n-body. :)

nope, it was the V6. But like I said, it had nothing but problems. I believe the power steering pump was getting ready to go.
