I'm thinking ahead to winter.

Anyone have any opinions or facts on Rust-proofing or undercoating the car.

I was looking into just getting the Rustproofing oil sprayed everywhere (Krown)

Let me know what you all think.

... they spray it under your car just like Krown ... actually, Krown COPIED Rust Check ... I have used Rust Check for years and years and years :)

Oh!

You mean go to the Rust Check place like Krown.

Yea...if I find one around here I will...but all I know of is Krown.

But my original question:

Undercoating (the black tar-ish stuff)
Undercoating (Oil spray i.e. rustcheck/krown)
Or nothing cause it's not needed.

... don't get anything that hardens (i.e.: the black stuff) as it will trap moisture next to the body :( ... Rust Check (or similar) that requires it to be reapplied every year is best in my opinion because it keeps everything covered ... finally, get it down JUST BEFORE the winter as it will be fresh just when you need it :)

rust check has a 2 step process, thin oil, then some thicker grease on the bottom

... they have two styles and what you are describing is the second and not the original ... the original is a single stage product that in theory stays 'moist' and protects the car for a year :)

I got the undercoating done when I bought my car and I find the cars interior is alot quieter on the highways and its alot easier to clean the underside with the undercoating. Worth the cost I think.

I say for the price of undercoating, take your car through an automatic carwash that features undercarriage flushing. once a week from November to March.

Or is it somtimes too cold to do that?

Had that oil sprayed on my truck once, Only once. That stuff created a mess. Dirt and very small rocks would stick to it , and build up on the frame and things.
Never again!

... that and sometimes you end up just pushing the salt and whatnot "further" in :(

Though sometimes it's too cold and the car washes aren't open.
