I read an artical in yesterdays paper here that GM feels they won't lose much in sales of SUVs or Pickup sales, because the people who buy them can afford the price of gasoline. GM also said that SUV and Pickup sales contribute to 60% of there sales for there entire fleet of vehicals. They also said they believe the price per gallon will level off and the price per barrel of oil will fall back to $50.00.
I think GM is dreaming if they think this won't hurt there SUV and Pickup sales. I've talked to a couple of sales men here at our local GM dealership, and they said ever since the gas price has gone up they have had more people coming in looking at the smaller more fuel efficient cars. If the prices stay where they are i think the cars will again out sell the SUVs and Pickups.
As for the gas prices leveling off. Yes i believe they will ... looking back at history though they won't go back down to where they were before this started. I think they will go down some but never back to the price it was. Same thing with the oil, Looking at there history too the price per barrel should level off and then fall back some, but not to the price it was in the begining.
How ever this is all my opinion and hopefully im wrong. It sure would be nice if someone could take control of the stituation and make all the prices back to where they were. Even though i thought that was to high. ;) but I'll settle for it after this.
By the way the Price rose today from $2.99 to $3.15 per gallon today in Grand Forks.
