Well... maybe to put it in perspective a smidge or 2... I bought my 03 GAGT with 18,2xx on the odo.. For 14 k...
The sunfire is a lesser car.. 5 years old and asking only 6k less? I dunno about that... My 00 Neon I traded in on my GAGT got 2900 with 60k-ish... But then again it was a Dodge

I figure i am gonna offer 6500 for it, i think its a fair price, the car is in excellent condition as far as body goes and interior is pristine had one owner and a non smoker. Just was looking for opinions.

take a look at some j-body sites and kbb.com as well as some other retail siets.
You can find a lot about the prices you should offer there.

That sounds a lot better! 6-6500 would be good.. I get leary the closer you get to double digits.. Only because.. the closer you get to like 10k or more... The closer you are to paying what you could get for a baseline, low end new car (like a neon)

Don't forget that this summer you were able to get a brand new Sunfire/Cavalier for only 9900$ CDN.
Here right now the 2000 Sunfire/Cavalier sells for about 4500-5500$ CDN.

yeah true, idk, i have always gotten taken on cars and paid too much or whatever, i think this is a good price though, its like a brand new car, but without higher insurance costs. idk.

$8500 US = $11000 CDN (roughly) = "way too much"
If it were me, I wouldn't be looking at spending any more than $3500/$4500 US depending on the condition :)

Check Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book.
Find the going prices. $6K sound high to me. I used generic values and my zip code and got the following.
NADA says $4,200-$5,500
Edmunds $2,700 - $4,000
Kelly - $4,300

this is at a dealership, right? be sure to use retail pricing when searching, i'm not saying pay retail, but make your offer between retail and private sale if its from a dealer.

I would try "$5000, cash" and then if not.. move up from there. Cash speaks.. pretty loudly, so you never know

I agree, $5,000 or so.... its a basic econobox, they loose value very quick too, Of course I would never pay $5k for a Cailver, but either way thats alot of money for that car....
So I agree, 5 grand cash, then see what they say.

I'd offer $4,000 - I think its reasonable. If it were a Nissan or Honda (which hold their value) I would say sure, not a bad deal, but $4k is decent for what you are buying. Back in 99 when I first saw a new GA, I couldnt afford it at the time and they tried putting us in a brand new sunfire for $9,000. That should put your purchase into perspective. (The following year I got a decent job and was able to get the GA)
