questions on a 96 grand am

i know this is my first post so plz bare with me. I currently dont own any cars and i am thinking about buying a 96 Grand Am SE coupe with a 4 cylinder with 97k miles with a auto tranny for 2800. Is there anything major i should look out for or anything i should expect to replace on the car. The passenger side mirror motor doesnt work all the time is the only mechnical thing i saw. I also heard that the water pump and the alternators go out quick. Can anybody help me out?

edit: one more thing, what kind of gas do i have to put in this car? We have 87, 89, and 93 in my area

87 will do fine. 2,800 seems like a lot for a 96, 4 with 97K.

i am going to talk him done to 2400 or i wont do it, im just trying to find out what problems i should expect and the cost of replacing those parts
