hokay...soo....my belt, its squeeling...i think its a bad belt...so i change it, the squeel goes away. hokay so now two days later, the same exact squeel (this happend with the other belt as well). the top idle pulley was replaced. and i looked into the engine bay today and reved it a lil bit and i noticed that the tensioner pulley and arm are moving around a lil bit..now i dont know if thats supposed to happen. but when you rev the motor the whole tensioner arm moves forward and backward. its not stable and staying on one place..now is that supposed to happen? cause i know alotttt of people say that the tensioner pulley usually causes the majority of the squeels on these cars. lemme know what you guys think?

When my car started squeeking I just got the tensioner with the belt and changed them both together. No more noise. Pretty sure the tensioner will fix it. They do not last forever.

Sounds like the tensioner is going bad... it shouldn't be loose at all.

As Craig said, they don't always last.

I agree... I'd be replacing the tensioner.

Tensioners are designed to move so as not to snap the belt when the engine torques. What normally happens is the tensioner arm wears and cocks (not paralell to the belt) You may see it while reving the engine. Replace it.

It is EXTREMELY difficult to diagnose noises without being there to hear them. :( If it's a metallic squealing, check all the accessories. If a rubber squealing, try some belt dressing to see if that stops it, even temporarily.

no no no no, belt dressing is the worst thing you could ever do to a belt, take a bar of soap that's been used for a little while and with the engine running touch it to the belt on both sides if possible, very carefully as not to let your hand or fingers touch any moving parts. if the squeal goes away you know it is a belt squeal, if it remains take the belt off and turn all the accessories and note any roughness in the bearings
