ok, i posted this in the modification forum but im really impatient and wanna start working on my car since i have off from work all week. i'm 16 and i bought my black 92 ga se (3.3L v6) with 86k miles on it for $950. i couldnt believe the car when i saw it, it had 17 inch chrome momo rims (too ghetto for me, so i took em off), a pioneer 10 disc changer, a sony head unit, a pioneer equalizer rockford 6x9s and i'm fairly sure the door speakers were also upgraded. i jumped on the deal and lowered the price from $1,100 to $950 it and bought it. the car is in excellent shape, just waxed it n it shines very nicely, im sending in the bumpers to get repainted in a few weeks and it should be ok, then i cant start playin around.. yea, sorry about the long intro about my car but whatever..lol now onto my dilema..

my car has the 3.3l v6 (no tach) and i went to a junkyard and purchased a gauge cluster with a tach from a 92 grand am with a quad4. will these swap? what can i do about the odometer reading? Also, I heard something about changing the oil pressure sending unit if i did this, what type would i have to get?

i heard something about this swap working but i'm just making sure..i really need the help, thanks alot.

Actually I believe the tach won't read correctly because it was calibrated to go by the number of ignition pulses from a 4 cylinder, not a 6 cylinder. So at idle it might say you're at 3000 rpm... (guess, not too sure how much it'd be off).

Yeah, a 4 cylinder tach is not gonna work. I did the same thing on my '95, and i made sure i found a cluster that was from a V6. Look on ebay, i have seen a few of these latley, not too expensive either.

So just find a cluster that was from a V6 and it should work fine.

Hey Matt, How much would you be willing to part with that gauge cluster with the tach for (since you won't be able to use it accurately)? :D I have a 1995 quad 4 and no tach.

This would be an exact swap right? And what about the odometer like Matt said? Is it easy to swap those out or would it better to get someone else to do it for me?

Yes its a direct swap. Nothing big involved. As fas as the odometer goes, i had someone else do it, but it seems pretty easy, just take one out and put the other in.

so you can actually can change odometer for odometer too?

Hmmm.....now all I need is Matt to see this.

Willing to part w/ the rims? I'd have to see pics of course, but I know my factory rims are the worst ones I've seen on a Pontiac, and are starting to get a little beat up, so I am gonna assume that whatever you have is better. :-D
