I have a 00 GA SE with a 2.4L w/auto trans. Car has about 115,000 miles. When engine is cold the shift from 1st to 2nd is kind of snappy and really jerks into gear under a little more than normal acceleration. Once the car is warmed up that shift turns into a real hard shift and makes the car shutter. Accelerating even normal still causes this hard shift. Heavy acceleration is impossible. I was told that the trans looks perfectly fine when taken to a dealership for trans flush. I took it to a local mechanic shop after that (dealership wouldnt say anything without me giving them diagnostic fees) and they said that it could possibly be a speed sensor. Sometimes when the car gets a little warm, the "trac off" light comes on too. Any suggestions?

So, was it doing this before you went to the dealer for a trans flush, and also did they end up changing the fluid?

Yes I was having the problem before I got the trans flush because I thought that maybe the fluid just needed to be changed or something. The dealership did change the fluid and filter but said it looked really clean. They said that if I needed a new valve body that there would be traces of metal in the filter, but there was nothing.

sounds like a broken accumulator spring or seized accumulator piston, take it to a transmission shop to get an accurate diagnosis
