Well, I know I'm due for new rotors. I was also thinking if anyone else was, we could see if there was interest in a group buy. I emailed RSM, and the reply was "it can be done, let us know the details".
So do we have interested parties?

I'll have to email them and ask how they'd want to handle this. The 99+'s get a different part number then the 97.
As it stands right now, there's not enough interest it seems. I'll keep checking back though.

Get ahold of them then. When I emailed them for info, the price was/is 60 each on their website. He didn't say what they'd be for the group, because we didn't know how much interest there was. I'd still like to see if we can bring that down some more. :)

I'm just thinking that since they list at 60 apiece on the site, that a group buy would be pretty useless if we still pay 60 apiece. ;)

99GrandAMSE

OK, here is the information ...
http://www.rsmracing.com/Lrg_Images/sltrot.jpg
Minimum 10 pair (front or rear, doesn't matter)
$45US per rotor ($65.00CAD per rotor), plus shipping.
All rotors will NOT shipped until AFTER November 14th being RSM will be closed between October 26th to November 14th.
All Grand Am bolt patterns are avalable.
Once we have enough interest covering the minimum of 10 pair, the various factory contact information will be provided so each individual can get in touch directly with RSM and provide their specific payment details but the money will NOT be taken until the units are shipped.
... if you have any questions, post it here or contact me directly :)

That was a typo on my part ... I fixed it now ... basically, when we have enough interest (10 pair), I will post who to contact and then it will be the responsibility of each member to contact RSM and arrange for payment and when everyone has contacted them, the rotors will be made/shipped and THEN, you will be charged (assuming you will be using a credit card :D)

SilverGA2001

I'd do rears as well if: They were cheaper then the fronts. Why pay the same for rear brakes? The rear aren't even vented.
and
I don't really wanna spend the extra cash at the moment. Fronts are a must, but the rears are tolerable for now.

I just bought some for my car off of e-bay and they were only $90.00/ set and that was with the shipping price, pluss I got to choose what style of groove I wanted. Straignt groove or curved groove, I dont think it realy matters as far as performance so I just went with what looked better. They also offered Zinc plating for another $15.00

I still think paying the extra to have them shipped from RSM is worth it, considering that you can be sure of the quality and such.
Why did you chip in with this tho? Trying to get people to back out of the group buy???

Yeah you can never quite trust e-bay stuff. For all you know they could have ripped them off an old GA, and just re-surfaced them.
From RSM we know we are getting a quality product.

You guys dont really know to much about ebay then because there are allot of good, actual companies that sell on ebay, just to exspand their market place and get some free advertizing. Yes you have to beware of who you buy from but it just takes alittle time to do the research and you can save some money. I can tell you the roters I got were good quality, why would I even mention it if they wern't. No I'm not trying to get anyone to back out of your group buy. I was just wasting time reading some of the threads to maybe learn something new about my car. Thought I'd be nice and let people that might be on a buget know you can get some good deals on ebay if you know what to look for. Thats all no reason to get all bent out of shape over it.

^^^ Um, if people are on a budget, they shouldn't be modding their cars. Besides, if you buy the eBay ones, you save.... $15 or so? I think paying the extra little bit to support a company that supports this site is worth it.

No one was getting bent out of shape over it. We just don't mind paying the extra 15-20 dollars or whatever for a product we know is coming from RSM. :)

That is such a stupid comment. I know people that make over 60 grand a year that still have a budget. And um Dr. Fab if your doing so well for yourself that you have no budget then why do you drive a Grand Am. Don't get me wrong GA's are nice cars for the money and a person can do far worce, but if you have no budget then whare is your Porch or Viper or Vett or whatever car you desire and don't tell me a GA is at the top of your dream car list. Not to mention but you save not just a total of 15 bucks you save that much per Roter and save on shipping so you save like 60 - 100 on a full 4 piece set. And with the high gass prices right now it's nice to save that much. Pluss why would anyone be in on a group buy at all, if there is no saveing money of any kind, why not just by them yourself.

Where do you get $100 in savings??? The RSM ones are $90 for two, plus $15- $20 for shipping, the eBay ones are $90. That's a $15-$20 difference. For a set of four, thats a $30-$40 difference.
When I say budget, I mean mean someone that is watching every dollar, living paycheck to paycheck. If that is the case, why would you spend money on your car like this? I am doing well for myself, thank you. I just got done talking to my local Pontiac dealer about getting a 05 GTO... I could afford it if I really wanted to, but I don't feel that I need a car like that at the age of 20, especially in college. But that's a different subject.
Thank you, have a nice day, back to the great deal a sponsor was willing to give us.

Why do rotors need to be powder coated? what does it mean/do?
Did GM use the same rotors on all their cars? I wonder if they would fit the front of the '93 DeVille... then again the wheel bolt pattern or whatever is differen't.... my rotors are kinda warped, just figured if I could get these cheaper, then it would be a good deal :)

Huzzah! I just got my call from RSM for payment!
Hey Frank, would it be possible to tell whoever I talked to that I apologize if I sounded rude or anything at all. I was barely awake, I was asleep and my dad shoved the phone in my face and said its for you.

I would have to say that it's somewhat their own fault as to why so many orders have been lost from the group buy. I sent 2 emails, got 0 replies for more then a week. Many others also had to send 2, even 3 emails. After a certain point, it became unnecessary and frustrating. Then it's been a slightly busy time here for many with Thanksgiving, and I'm sure that waiting on an email from someone that's already ignored you for a week was not a priority. Not sure why they dropped the ball on this one, but I probably won't seek out any business with RSM again I believe.

well i guess as long as we still got the appropiate amount of people and still got the good deal, its good for us.

Just wanna let you guys know the rotors will be going out this upcomming week. We've been having a bit of issue with UPS's software and they're sending a new version out to see if thats the issue.
Thanks
-Frank

Got mine yesterday. Still need the P brake cable and a couple of bolts then the rear disk swap begins. Not sure if I'm gonna find a heater for the garage or just wait til the weather breaks. Prolly won't be able to wait though. lol. Pics to follow.
