Well I've kinda run into a little problem. See here is my problem I have two Pontiacs, a 1991 Grand AM LE 2.3 Quad4 DOHC with swallowed piston rings. The other one is a 1995 Grand Prix SE 3100 V6 with internal damage Transmission.

So what my buddy and I are thinking of doing is putting the 3100 V6 into the 91 Grand AM. My question is what problems could we be facing in doing this swap?

For starters...
Bell housing pattern, engine mounts, engine harness, PCM, incompatible gauge clusters, possibly need a different transmission, etc. Not an easy swap.

We figured something like those, but I found out that both cars may have the same Transmission 4speed-4T60E. So there maybe a chance that the 3100 may bolt up.

Where also thinking of just rebuilding the 2.3 Quad4, I think it would be cheaper. What you think?

I was assuming you have the HO Quad 4 (as shown in your profile to the left) which is only mated to the Getrag manual 5-speed. The automatics used on the pre-92 LD2 Quad 4s are all 3-speed autos... not the 4-speed 4T60E... which would make PCM control an issue here.

I'd suggest fixing the Quad 4... it would certainly be cheaper.

I agree, so what do I do with the Grand Prix then?

Monster Garage-like project? ;)

Or just replace/rebuilt the damaged trans.

Hmmmm, a 007 Grand Prix, now where is Q?

We'll figure out something. Say you know any good sites on the web where I can rebuild the 2.3 parts?

Heh. Didn't Q retire and leave things to "R"?
