I was searching the internet because I was interested in supercharging or turbo-ing my Grand Am. I just stumbled on this picture, no clue on the details or anything, so I wouldnt ask me like how it was done. But just proof that I guess it can be done.

I know, I wish I knew for sure if it could be seriously done without major mods. There a 3800 S/C with 85K miles from a Buick Regal for sale on ebay for like under $2,000 with tranny 4T65E tranny and all! Thats a lot of power for a Grand Am, 240hp and 280 ft/lb.

that SC can be tweaked some to get that psi up some. Get a better intake(mainly CAI) and exhaust and some other stuff that can get up to possibly around 260 or so if not more. Theres some engine parts that are readilly available for the 3800 so power can always be added for that engine.

Yeah the 3800 is a great engine to swap over too. I have seen it done to every model grand am starting with the late 80's models so it sure as hell can be done.

What is the highest amount of hp can you get from a 3.8sc (including aftermarket parts)?????????

almost 13's id say with just a stock 3800sc cause the 400 pound heavier grand prix does low 14's wwith it

yea Id agree with that. I seen some down at Kil-Kare that are doing low 13's and even high 12's with this engine with some mods. So if a GP can do that with 400-500 more lbs then Id say a GA could do quicker. Most likely would have to get a different SC tho, dunno how much potential the GM one has?

A guy with a 2001 GP GTP claims 350+whp - dyno'ed with 11sec 1/4 ... Actuall there's 2 guys with GP's that claim they are into the 11's . Take a looky loo at this page.:) www.theotherguysproducts.com/showcase.htm

If you want 3800 power, hehehe...

about halfway down it says "yellow regal wheelstand" ummm, yea. Buick made some wicked cars back before it got grandma-ized with the frontdriving of GM in the 80s (they do have the 3800SC Riviera and Regal GS, and Park Ave though...). Last of the greats.
If that first vid isnt enough, Cal Hartline's Big Wheelie and his pass will make you a believer. :D
that v8 regal is sick too, but I wouldn't cut up an original GNX or t-type.

thats a sexy number for a v6:D The problem with header(s) would be fitment, the GA might be a little different with firewall(cowell) and all,but someone would have to either do this or confirm any problems.
