Ok, so I get a letter in the mail today, telling me that my dealership is being selected for a "special test market" and that Pontiac is in "desperate need" to acquire several pre-owned 1997 GAs by Sept. 26th.
Is this some kind of gimmick to get me to buy a new car, and trade-in my 97? I have a feeling there are more than enough pre-owned 97s sitting around at car lots that Pontiac could buy.
I'm going to scan and attach the letter. Anybody have any idea what this is all about?

Wow, they really are showing some creativity and initiative with their sales gimmicks...definately trying to sell you a new car...isn't that about the time the GM employee discount offer ends as well?

Dont do it, there just tryin to get you to buy a new car. If they needed those cars so bad and they wanted yours that bad they would offer you a super duper great deal on a new one

Thanks guys, I wasn't quite sure what to make of the supposed deal they were going to give me.
Maybe if they pay the difference in insurance and get me a new GA for $90 a month, I'll consider...

It's a bait and switch technique, more than likely put on by the dealership itself. Pontiac may have a need at dealership levels for cars that would sell for the amount your used 97 would sell for, so that may be a valid point, however, they are trying to make money, no doubt about it.
