how much hp can you expect to get with a catback 2.25in exhaust on a 2.4?

there was a test done for this and it was around 9 hp

is that whp or crank? that seems pretty good!

you have to think because our 2.4l 's are very restricted on the exaust side. the 2.5 inch exaust did almost 13 hp gain

Is that with the stock cat and resonator or were they removed?

Seems a little high to me. Didn't feel like all that much after i had mine done.

yeah i dont believe that either... the 2.4 needs a 2" MAX diameter pipe... 2.5 is a total waste for a 4 cylinder unless you are running a forced induction

isn't the GASE 2" stock? and most of our aftermarket headers have a 2.25" downpipe? Alot of the NA 2.4L guys I know go for 2.25" I got 2.5" cause i'm gettin the GM supercharger pretty soon and even NA with mild mods it runs pretty solid, didn't even lose that much low end. But yeah, again, i'd love to see some dynos.

that is not true, 2.25 inch is great for the LD9. Considering the hp output and the size of the motor that is a perfect size.

Not anymore....

http://www.paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=237

But you can still buy them (they are only made for the 00+ 2.4 but can be made to work on all 2.4L's)

search this site, search j-body.org and search quad4forums.com probably a good 1000 or so posts on all the boards combined. There are two users that i know of that have them on their cars on this forums, and more that are going to be putting it on.

basicly since you have a pre 2000, you'll have to switch over to a 2000+ starter, and do your own fuel mods/tuning, but it's a pretty good kit. other than the fact it can't be intercooled. But you can up the boost with an inexpensive pulley swap. after about 8 psi though, you'll need an alky/water injection setup.

its ok, there a good company, havent heard anything bad about them yet.

But before you go buying turbo kits or supercharger kits your going to need to know how to tune the car and so on with these mods.

what type of tuning are you talking about? air/fuel ratios, electronics, or the turbo/supercharger itself? because my dad is friends with a gm certified mechanic (mr. goodwrench) and he would be helping us on the install and all that...thanks for the info again!

I agree.

Read the FAQ and "mini-FAQ" on j-body.org in the boost section. There's some other good info there too - but don't beleive everything your read.

If you use anything smaller than the stock pulley you'll need a way to retard the timing. MSD box, etc.

The manifolds made for j-body orient the turbo in a way that won't clear the n-body steering rack. :(

Tuning as in the ability to control and set the amount of fuel the engine recieves... since much more fuel will be required due to the increase of air. Also the ability to get feedback of the A/F ratio... via dyno, wideband O2, or EGT. In other words, you'll need an additional $1,000+for fuel and tuning mods... such as injectors (can't use the ones supplied in the GM kit), FMU, and tuning electronics.

Quite honestly most certified mechanics will be absolutely clueless when it comes to modified fuel systems and tuning of a fuel injected engine. If you're looking for help, you'll want someone with experience in this subject.

I am not 100% sure, but i think they made different manifolds for the different cars, and just say for all the models and when you buy it you tell them what you have and they send the right parts you need. I know the company posts on jbody, ive seen a few posts and also havent heard any bad stories like exploited or anything.

If so, that would be great if the company is willing to "make-to-order". I just wanted to inform people of the differences in the chassis that will cause difficulty if one assumes that j-body = n-body.
