Can someone plaease direct me on how to reset my change oil light. I have a 99 Grand am se and one afternoon my change oil light went off. I know my oil is good as it was just recently changed. I tried the pressing the breaks three times while in park and I think I am missing a step or two. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

I believe we have a check oil light.
And Tony do you have any pictures of your car? If you do I would love to see them.

A "Check Oil" light is completely different.

In the '99+ There is an Oil Life Monitor. It doesn't actually inspect the oil, but it uses a computer algorythm to determine temp, how long the engine runs between starts, how long the engine is above or below operating temp, how hard you drive it, etc. It will throw a "Change Oil" light when the computer decides the oil should be changed based on all that information.
The "Check Oil" light is different... It is triggered by the Oil Pressure switch. When the oil pressure is too low, you will get a Check Oil light. That's a BAD thing. But, more often than not, the "Check Oil" light is caused by an electrical or electronic malfunction. The Check Oil light has nothing to do with change intervals, and little to do with oil levels (Unless the car is dangerously low on oil; enough so that it lowers the oil pressure drastically).
I hope this helps explain it for you. :)
