My 2000 Grand AM SE2 has the original 16" Goodyear Eagle LS tires with about 53,000 miles on the car.
A forum search turned up the reason my front end is making noise...seems to be the tires, lol. Don't think I have enough tread left for even a possibility of replacement according to the service bulletin someone posted. They are about worn out anyway, so I need to replace them very soon.
Can anyone recommend some good all-season tires? I do a lot of Interstate travel (70+/- mph) but just local driving during the week. It would be nice to have something that handled water better than these original tires too!
Am counting on your expertise. :)

Michelin Harmony is rated as a great all-season... hmm, I'm not too sure if you can call an all-season great.hehe

I have a 2000 GT, and I put some Sumotomo HT rated Z tires for about 90 bucks each. There smooth on the ride and good in the rain. I'm from houston texas so we don't get snow over here, so don't know how they handle in that. But I never liked the goodyear it originally had, they got really bad traction in rain, and I was slipping and sliding all over the place in those. Check them out and see what you think.

I'm going to get Bridgestone Potenza RE-950 tires on mine when I need new tires. They have a very high satisfaction rating on TireRack.com and are somewhat cheaper than Michelins, Goodyears, and BFGoodrich. They also have an awesome looking tread design. They are all season/high performace category. I'm awaiting the day when I can get these damn Goodyear Eagles off of here. I recently got GM to give me 2 new Gooyear tires to get rid of the front end noise, but I would place a hefty bet that the noise comes back sometime.

I'll be putting Continental ExtremeContacts on my car in the next few weeks. I had Firehawk SH30's on my last two cars and loved them. Too bad Firestone is no longer making them.

I hear you Kelly, my mom put the top of the lines on her '91 GP in 1996, and still had a decent amount of tread left when she traded it in for a GA in 2001!
but then again she rotated and balanced them religiously!

Pirelli if you like performance (but they kind of suck in the snow) michelin if you want a good all around, long lasting tire.

Which Michelin are you referring to? Is it the Pilot? I've heard good things about Michelin, just have never owned any. They are kinda pricey, but I would consider them if they are worth the extra cost.

I don't want to start any flame wars or anything, but I absolutely HATED the Michelins on my old Integra, and I don't see why anyone would like them at all... I was going to replace them with Bridgestone RE950s the same weekend it got wrecked. I'm going to replace the tires on my GA sometime this summer... my final candidates are RE950, Dunlop SP Sport A2, and BFG G-Force KDWS. Oh, I do know that Michelin owns BFG's tire operations; I'm only considering them because they're American-made.
GAGT.com has a tire database for our cars... you might check it out... http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=549

Not Firestones!
My favorite for 4 seasons AND for snow tires are Toyo! They last a long time and give superbe traction!

Whichever tire you choose, make sure you purchase from www.tirerack.com!!!
These guys are great. You'll save 20-50% on the exact tire your local dealer will sell you. My Goodyear guy said that I actually bought my tires 20% cheaper than he could get them. They ship directly to you and you can take them to a local tire dealer to install for a very nominal charge.
I've heard this from a lot of auto dealers too.
Do yourself a favor and go to: www.tirerack.com[/URL]
Good Luck!

Thanks so much, everyone, for your comments. After getting some estimates and reading the reviews on www.tirerack.com, I've decided on the Bridgestone Potenza RE910s. I really like some of the other tires, but the some of the prices...yikes! Unfortunately, I don't have a money tree, LOL. Actually, I'm going to see if one other store comes up with a better price for them. It's a pain being a woman sometimes, because you never know for sure if someone is trying to rip you off. All I can do is go in there and act like I know what I'm talking about, haha.
You guys are great!

It pays to shop around. Got another estimate on the Potenza RE 910s for $100 less and more in the price range I was looking for.:D Getting them tomorrow.:) The RE 950s looked nice, but are more money for 40k instead of 60k.
