99 GA SE -> 06 Mazda 3 GT

I currently own a '99 GA SE, and I'm thinking about getting a 2006 Mazda 3 hatch (the grand touring trim, with a 2.3 engine).
If any of you has driven both, would you tell me what I will miss from my GA when I switch cars (other than the extra room)? Also, if you have any comments, feel free to post!
Has any one made this same switch?

Thanks for your replies. I test drove a 3 last year and I loved everything about it except for the lack of power. I test drove the 4-speed Automatic one then, I live in Atlanta and wouldnt like to deal with stop-n-go traffic with a manual.
Everything in that car is top quality... and now that they have a 5-speed Automatic, I might go ahead and go for it. It has so many features for an economy car.
The mazda 6 would be in the same class than the Grand Am but there are too many problems reported with it... The 6 is American while the 3 is Japanese.
I still love my Grand Am though... I'm unsure on what to do once I sell it (I'm not gonna get much at all for it). I have an aftermarket HU with an amp and a nice 12" sub that I will miss on my 3.
Should I sell the car with them or should I take them out and put the stock CD player back and sell the stuff myself?
I'm not sure what's the best option there.
