I'd found a cherry bomb muffler from pep boys for $30. A friend of mine said that real good and I did some research and most of the people said they like it. Some people also said that flowmasters were over-rated. The best difference I see is the price, its half the price of a flowmaster.

Is there anybody here with a cherry bomb muffler and what's the difference between a cherry bomb and flowmaster, magnaflow, etc?

$30 is a rip off for a cherry bomb/glass pack, they suck goat balls anyway, thats why they are cheap.

Have you ever heard a cherry bomb after it's broken in? It's like not having a muffler at all.

Those things went out with Avacado green fridges, shag carpeting and 8-tracks.

Whom ever told you that cherry bombs were good and that Flowmasters were overrated needs to be smacked :)

Just spend the aditional $20 and get a good muffler.

well there was a bigger diffrence for me cherry bomb was $40 and the stock myffler was $130 so I went with the cherry bomb. But I also love my muffler when it was rusted out ...I am just trying to keep the GF happy.

If price is that much of a concern, get a dynomax super-turbo. I've seen em go for $30 already.

On the cherry bombs, agreed. I still personally think flows are overrated compared to many other mufflers on the market with the same style and price.

Cherry bombs are just cheap mufflers...I had one on my 3.1L Sunbird and it sounded like ass.

I also thing that Flow-smashers are overrated. I don't like how they sound. Especially on 60degreeV6's

I'm a dyno-max guy myself.

Glass packs on a small V6? :puke:

Get a Dynomax Super Turbo for the same price.

Dynomax sounds great on the v6's too. I had it on the 3400, but it should sound about the same on a 3.1. Nice and deep!

I had a 2.5" Dynomax Ultraflow Straight through Race Muffler on my 3.1L Sunbird.

I had that on the end of a complete 2.5" Mandral bent Exhaust system with a 2.5" High Flow Cat...no resonators.

It sounded great. Fairly loud with an ever so slight crackle.

Guy around here running glasspacks on a 3.1 Monte Carlo (all decaled up like a NASCAR wanna-be - or ultimate fan I guess) and it sounds like shitt-o! All blatty, tinny, raspy & just plain bad. I wouldn't do it for free.

Cherry Bomb makes more than just glasspacks... He just said that, not a glasspack

Good point... which brings up another, there are different types of glass-packs. Although the term has become the defacto term for the classic Cherry-bomb one, there are several other mufflers that use glass (fiber strands) as method of muffling - for example: Borla ProXS, Dynomax turbo's have glass packed in there, but still retain the traditional oval casing design that offers better sound dampening abilities due to inside space.

This is the typical "Cherrybomb" glasspack:

This is also a "glasspack" muffler, but in the stock-like oval format:

Is there anybody here with a cherry bomb muffler and what's the difference between a cherry bomb and flowmaster, magnaflow, etc? Guys, this sounds like the turbo model, NOT the glasspack. This is what's bugging me; the muffler was to compete with the Super Turbo (I believe) and their glasspack and Turbo II competes with the Dynomax "Thrush" line

The one I'm looking at is the stock oval like cherry bomb turbo. I don't think its a glasspack though. I lookd inside it, didn't see any glass.

BINGO! See guys I was trying to tell you it was not a glass.. Now if I'm correct, it was to compete with the Super Turbo
