I like that engine shot! I'd say 1 or 2 :D

I like that engine shot too. I tossed it in at the last minute. I wasn't sure if it was strong enought to get more votes than a car shot for a calendar.

How about putting pic #1 as an inset pic to one of the other ones? That'd be cool...have that in one corner and maybe an interior shot in the other corner or something. Just a thought.

... just a comment here guys, #1 is a great "artistic" photo but you have to consider what the picture is going to be used in ... to me, a scenic picture of an actual Grand Am would be nice being it is a Grand Am calendar ;)

good point but wouldn't a GA with it's hood of in a scenic area be cool?

Since I am the "Running with scissors" guy, I feel compelled to respond to your comment about the popular and favorite picture that I posted.

Thank you, Kelly. Actually I consider it more technical with some artistic qualities. The other seven choices are more artistic as I see them.

but you have to consider what the picture is going to be used in

If chosen, it's going to be used in a calendar featuring pictures chosen by the members of GAOC. I would expect that they wouldn't mind looking at a sparkling engine compartment featuring a gleaming Ecotec engine. At least that is what the voting is telling me. There are a number of people that walk that thin line between "Hobby" and "Compulsion". Some people walk around auto shows and only look at the engines. They see plenty of shiny fenders every day.

I guess if everyone shared your views, they would have voted for one of the other seven possibilities. They may want to see something a little more unusual that has artistic qualities. Maybe good looking Grand Ams during the other eleven months are enough.

we are now asking everyone to send in a single image of his or her Grand Am for possible inclusion in our upcoming publication.

I am simply testing the waters to see which one image would be be received by the majority of active members.
It is a single image and it is my Grand Am.

I'm not really trying to start something but there are no rules covering content. The rules cover size, resolution, color, file extension and quantity.

As I stated earlier, picture #1 was tossed in at the last minute. I liked the way it looks and I wanted to see how many others did too. I also like the idea of combining #1 and #2 into one submission.

I totally agree with you Jim. It's not everyday you see such a beautiful engine. I think Kelly was just saying that "mainstream" will go over better, increase your chances of being picked. :)

100% correct!! ... Jim, you are right as there certainly isn't any rules regarding content as I am the first to admit what might appeal to me may not appeal to someone else so there is no way that I would ever expect anyone to follow a 'garbage' rules such as "you can only submit pictures like ...." ... anyway, going by the poll, it appears #1 is what everyone likes and as I said, it is the membership who chooses the calendar so if you end up using the engine picture and the group chooses it, it will be there!! :)

I like 6,7 and 8, but I have to say that's one good lookig GA.

I agree with whoever said that the engine shot should be an inset on the photo. I'm sure that Kelly could be coaxed to doing it for you. ;)

How about #6 with the hood open show the goods?

#6 has it for me... The most even lighting and best (IMO) composition. #2 looks like you have a tree growing out of the roof. :) I like #1 as well, but I agree that it really doesn't suit the calendar. :glasses:
