View Full Version : Alloy wheel corrosion

I got my new GA GT 2003 just a few days ago and had noticed that the thin ring of metal between the actual tire (GoodYear Eagle RS-A P225/50R16 91V) and the shiney metallic center spokes area (i think the thin ring is called the rib flange or something, sorry for my extreme lack of terminology) has this bubbling corrosion going on that feels like a thin plastic laminate that is coming off...underneath is this garbage looking aluminum surface.

The corrosion isn't on the good looking part of the wheel just that very thin rim that interfaces with the tire. Its white and crusty in appearance. Is there any way I can get rid of this corrosion without having to replace the wheel? Can it be sanded away and laquered again? Where can I get this kind of work done ($$$?) or should i do it myself with some chemicals, tools. Thanks
