Club Member Amanda9981 emailed me with her passlock problem, if you guys would like to help, you are more than welcome.!!!
Amanda;
Do a search on the GAOC website about Passlock. You’ll learn more about it. I had that problem about a month ago, I almost spend lots of money like the other guys did... But instead I went to the dealer and had a key cut, not from the old key, but based on the VIN# the key is about $45.00 because they’ll cut it based on VIN#. Is just like having a new car with a new key. (The dealer would ask you for your registration and you ID, if you are the owner of the car, because they just can’t cut a key to anyone just because they have a VIN#) Try that, and see how is works.
If you want to go an extra step, do what I did. I pulled the key switch, with the key cylinder and hat it sprayed with an electrical pray cleaner (wires, plugs, harness, and electrical parts cleaner)… is no big deal really; you have to remove the cd player/radio console to have the switch pulled out. Be careful with the wires going to the key cylinder, it won’t come off, till you push a small lock on the switch to release the cylinder. By the way those cables go to a chip on the cylinder, that sucker causes all the PASSLOCK problems. Anyway just spray the switch and cylinder all over, also try to spray inside both parts. Let’em dry and put everything back together. If you don’t have anyone to do this for you have someone help you. This job could cost you around $300 bucks. Remember that is are the first steps to fix your problem if this doesnt work get ready to spend some big bucks on this. So, good luck!
