does anyone know of an exhaust system i can put on a 3.8L V6 and NOT sound like a ricer...i really want the deep sound you get out of a V8. anyone know of anything? Magnaflow is close but not deep enough.

3.8L V6 :???:

You'll prolly get a better response on a Grand Prix forum.

I'd say SLP, Borla, Corsa, Dynomax, custom done Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Any of these should give you a deeper louder thrill. Check out PFYC.com for the list of catbacks for the 3.8.

The one thing I see though that you probably won't get easily is the low V8 rumble. That 90 degree V6 has an odd exhaust note. My dad's GTP just has a pah-pah-pah sound to it, smooth, not high nor low. It'll be loud, and it'll probably be deeper, but you'll still recognize it as a 3.8 and not a V8.

I had a friend with a 99 GTP and he put an SLP Powerflo on his car and it sounded pretty cool. It was loud, and by no means sounded like a ricer.

Yes, it makes a lot of difference. When you said 3.8l v6, we all assumed a GM 3.8 v6.

So basically, I have no ideas for you now. Sorry.

If you want deeper notes what you should do is get a tail pipe that has a long straight section. Diameter, often thought to give a deep rumble really just makes the sound louder, which may be one of your goals but unsupported length will determine the wavelength and therefore pitch of the sound leaving the end.
