i know this has been covered before but is this all i will need for nitrous system...do i have to do anything else to the car? are there any cheaper yet high quality kits out there for a 03 ga v6?

Well my first question would be , have ya done anything to the motor as of yet? I can tell you a few things about nitrous. The first major thing is that your pistions have to be forged for it to handle the abuse, you can use stock but they wont last very long. ok the other rule would be timming, on that kitt there they say not to retard the timming but i changed my cam so i had to retard the timming. also a nice purge kit is a must, if you get any pockets of bad air while firing the nitrous means disaster for your top end "BTDT". o yes another key feture about the kit it doesnt come with the bottle. If you are running stock then i would go with a ZEX nitrous kit "easy" and if you are a begginer with this start out small like a 50 shot or maybe a 75 shot unless you have a very big wallet lol i hope this helped

Here is a FAQ from Holley, makers of NOS.

Holley Performance (http://holley.com/TechService/FAQ.asp?category=NOS)

The third Q and A will answer most of you questions, but read it all...it's really good.

As long as you have the right supporting parts nitrous is safe with out having to have bottom end mods such as forged pistons and steel cranks.

For our cars I would (and do) have an RPM window switch, fuel pressure cut off switch, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, cold plugs and some kind of timing control device such as a custom programmed PCM and or an MSD DIS-4 box to keep the timing retarded.

A wide band O2 sensor and a way of monitoring your A/F ratio is also nice to have so you can tune your kit better.
An Autotap Aeroforce gauge or similar hand held device is nice also so you know what your PCM is doing.

Remember that nitrous does not kill your engine... Detonation from a lean condition does.. That's why people tell you to have forged pistons, rods and cranks, those parts can handle the detonaton better.
Bottom line is that if you don't experence detonation to begin with you do not have to worry about having stuff like that.

You can run a kit like ZEX p.n. 82011 dry kit with only adding plugs but an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (PFYC) would be safer. I ran that kit on my car for a few months shooting 75hp and had no problems. That is a very safe kit for stock engines.

I run a ZEX wet kit 83023 kit now and have safely shot 150hp and normally shoot 125hp on it without seeing any lean conditions and 0 knock retard... Stock bottom end but I do have the supporting mods to safely pull that off.

Remember with any amount of nitrous... premium fuel is a must.

I would not try to run more than 75 hp on a wet or dry kit with stock timing advances and especially not with DHP's aggressive timing advance.

I believe the forged piston debate is based upon old school ignition systems that didn't have a lot of control over timing advances causing detonation and blown engines.

when someone tells you nitrous isnt safe ask them how many cars they've actually had it on or if they knew what the hell they were doing in the first place.

Older pictures of my set up before adding the AFPR.

lol...i was trying to remember the name of the guy that lives near me with nitrous...it was you! :) I like your car man.

Since you have the DHP PCM, did you have it programmed with no advance, or are you retarding it with the MSD DIS-4? Also, did/do you gap your plugs differently?

thank you from the props.. I grew up in SCS and my mom still lives there. Lakeshore HS class of 86.

Now to answer your questions... I had DHP do my PCM w/o timing advances because I bought it before I knew about the DIS-4, and I retard the ignition with the DIS-4 box and run a gap of .060

And speaking of plugs I have to add that if you run any nitrous kit learn how to read your plugs and do it often.

k so now i am very interested in nitrous, but i would love to get some parts before i put nitrous on.
1 this dhp pcm is it safe to run if i get a msd dis4, would ia hve to gap my plugs still?
2. what kind of rpices would i be looking at for a dhp pcm, msd dis4, msd coils, and msd wires
3. where coudl i roder msd online, the places in town are hig jacked high?

thanks ahead of time
