My initial reaction is that it will be a complete waste of money, working on the placebo effect. They do not give any indication as to how it works or what it does. My opinion, stay away. Stay far, far away. There is no such thing as cheap horsepower.

I agree Shawn but my friend purched it and it was delivered today, should I help him install it or stay away and let him mess up his car by himself.

Or do you think it would hurt the car?

I can't say. Personally, I'd love to see exactly what it is. Gut feeling tells me this is just a IAT sensor resistor, in a nice shiney box. If so, they do nothing. Could be smething like the Jet 'chip', but I doubt it.

I dunno. I wouldn't be in a rush to install one in my own vehicle, that's for sure.

It's a $0.02 resistor encased in epoxy.

The IAT resistor mod will not make you gain power, only makes the PCM ignore the IAT sensor and assume it's cold enough to not have knock.

There are several dozen threads on this topic... search for "IAT resistor". :)

Looks pretty fishy to me. How can one chip work for any fiero grand am or grand prix? Wouldn't they all need something programmed for different computers?

assuming this device is more than just a resistor....

Cause almost all GM sensors use the same values on different vehicles and years. It cannot be anything other than a passive device that works as a sensor bypass. Any "intelligent" module requires more than 2 wires to interface to the PCM.

For those still on the fence...
Notice how the install instructions are nowhere to be found. Also notice how the feedback displayed in the auction is a screenshot of old feedback that lacks the numerous negatives that clearly show what the module really is - a resistor.

I'm half tempted to order one to sand down the epoxy to reveal that single resistor that I'm positive is in there.

We guarantee the Redline Performance Chip will out perform any other Power Control Module on the market for under $200.00. We are so confident is this product that if you find a better performing performance control module for under $200. We will not only refund your purchase price but we will also pay for the other Power Module. We will not alter the facts to sound good. We guarantee that the Redline Power Chip is the best cost vs. performance upgrade you will even install.

Someone with a V6 needs to try to get a DHP for under $200 :)

how exactly would you remove the stock brain? I see it under the dash and some wires going to it but no clips or anything.

I saw it when I replaced the almighty blower resisitor. I hope it's the last time I have to sit inverted in the passenger seat. (feet up by the headrest, head under the dash at a funny angle)
