View Full Version : **n-body Intakes Cai Group Buy Fall 2005**
Red99GAGT
10-14-2005, 01:52 PM
I am going to provide the GAOC community with another opportunity to pick up a CAI for their Grand Am at a very fair price. It will run very similarly to the one from last April, but I need to emphasize that everyone who wishes to participate in this to follow the directions below.
I use 3" polished aluminum tubing with your choice of silicone couplers (red, blue, can get yellow and black but supplies are not always readily available). I use stainless steel clamps and a K&N Inverted end cone filter. The filter sits inside the fender well, away from road debris but ready to breathe plenty of air. The HP benefits have never been verified, but the "a$$" dyno never lies and there is a noticeable difference.
https://home.comcast.net/~krichards1015/complete_cai.jpg
https://home.comcast.net/~krichards1015/cai_engine.jpg
If I can get committed orders for either the complete CAI kit and/or the CAI kit w/out a filter here are the price breakdowns.
3 orders:
Complete Kit: $160 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $105 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)
5 orders:
Complete Kit: $155 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $100 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)
7+ orders:
Complete Kit: $150 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $90 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)
If you are going to commit 100% to this purchase, please EMAIL ME (krichards1015@comcast.net) by October 31, 2005 the latest. Please include your GAOC screen name, your full name, and the type of kit that you intend to purchase along with the color of couplers you desire. On Tuesday, November 1, I will announce how many people have committed to pay and will provide you with the group purchase price to the email address you provide.
I will send you an invoice on November 1, 2005 with what you requested and the price. At that point I will give you payment instructions. I am only accepting money orders for methods of payment. Thank you.

I should have noted earlier...black couplers are not always available through my supplier. I will do my best to get them but I can not make any gurantees.

Any cone filter no longer than 6" with a 3" inlet should work.

I know for a fact it would not fit a pre-99 Grand Am. Some one on here did buy a kit from me but if I remember correctly I had to send them an extra coupler and extra piece of aluminum. I will try to research it.
ChevelleSSLS6
10-29-2005, 12:24 PM
who was that? That way you could sell more, the 3100 guys are hungry for a good CAI, with a setup similar to the 3400 it should be fairly easy.
Red99GAGT

I have all of the materials and some of the kits made up and ready to go, but I want to ship them all out at the same time so I only have to make one trip. That will be on Thursday morning guranteed. All will have insurance on them. For the US guys, you should have it by this Saturday..if not than definately Monday. For Joe in Canada, it will take longer. They always say it could take up to two weeks but I've seen them get there in 5 days.
Again, I know you guys want these kits. I just hope you can understand how busy I am and I'm working really hard to get these all done. Rest assured, they ALL will go out on Thursday. Thanks guys.

Good to hear! Just be careful when putting the sensors in through the black grommets. Try to hold them so they don't push through.

Nope not bad at all. I laugh at my self but the only thing that was really difficult was those push pins. They didn't want to come out and i ended up breaking 2 of em. But I have extras. :) Thanx alot. I've gotten compliments on it on how nice it looks.

this and being below freezing while turning wrenches.
otherwise not too bad to install, the sensors just pull the sensors out, not the wires, and hold the grommets in place while installing the sensors on the connector.
As for the battery box, I needed to put a washer since I got carried away with it:roll2:
But it sounds wicked now, and it's a lot better than just the filter stuck on the MAF (wai).

seriously... that's worse than when I went scouting a construction site with the GA back in the spring.
I got stuck in some mud, so I looked around and found an old pallet, broke it down into planks and jacked the car up (it sank into the mud so I had to use some planks and little stakes to support it) and finally once the tire was a little above ground level fill the rut with the pallet planks and anything else I could find and drive off. See pic.
EDIT: this is the kind of stuff that happens when a redneck gets stuck in the suburbs. (well Im really lacking the plaid and cowboy hat and have a distaste for duct tape beyond temporary repair but I'm still part redneck)

dude it looks like u opend up your hood and dumped a garbage bag of dirt over your engine lol. if your really looking to increase performance of your car, try cleaning the engine and maybe u wont get dirt in the engine or in the wires or corrosion can happen and screw with all of that.

You guys will have to realize i live in rural part of the state. Actually the whole state is mostly rural but anways. half the time you drive over gravel roads alot when delivering things to ppl. Usually i take the tempo where as i don't care what happens to it. But when my bro has it i take my car. I do clean my engine but when you have to deliver something to people in the country it gets hectic. Not to mention when it snows here, the county puts dirt on the snow.
To be honest i had so much s**t to do lately i have neglected my car. This past 3-4 days i was at State Student Council. Week before that i had setup FFA orders and got stuff ready to be sent out to ppl. And i have a 5 pg report due tomorrow at 10 am. i am now on page 2...

I wasn't meaning to throw bullets at ya, but understanfding your situation it's understandable.
Dirt is better than salt, stuff friggin eats the cars here in MI.

Ya, i also made my last post with only 6 hours of sleep within 3 days so needless to say i was defensive.
Ya salt is a problem in the eastern side of the state. But where i live their is barely any salt.

I'm TOTALLY late for this, but no chance of another 1 happening anytime soon eh Keith? Like.. in the next couple months? Or else just to see how many people will go in on one, Would much rather support a GAOC member, looking to make some extra dough, than some company like Dr Speed or something.
