If your looking for performance the Stage 3 intake is better. But if you are worried about sucking up water then a CAB is the way to go.

You really don't loose that much power with a CAB instead of the CAI. The CAB works well. I bought it for:
Ease of install
Ease of cleaning
No water
and I'm in MI so snow's a concern

i have the stage 3, i havent had a problem with sucking up water yet, makes some cool noises too, almost sounds like a small v8 under the hood... the stage 3 does have some draw backs too though... the front tire has to come off to get to the actual filter (Cleaning, installing, whatever else) but it comes with a k and n air filter so that helps on the cleaning part of it.
other then that i guess its your call. install is fairly easy if you can read the directions that come with it and have taken a tire off before.

see link Grand Am 3400v6 CAI (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=619927#post619927)
I live in Michigan, but the filter in these is fairly high inside the fender, away from debris and water. Plus, an old off-roading trick that works quite well is to get an old nylon sock and put it over the filter, the nylon is petroleum (oil) based and as you know oil and water don't mix.

SLP will give you better gains, but Borla sounds better, IMO.
SLP is $200+ cheaper than Borla.

yea i was already leaning more towards the slp exhaust.....but ive heard that the sound from the slp is not that diffrent from the borla.....i just dont want my car to sound like a 4 banger w/exhaust beacuse ive heard some ga's with the v6 that sound like an import 4cyl

I got a civic CAI in the fenderwell. i dont take the wheel off to get the filter off to clean it. Just jack up that side of the car, and there is a plastic panel that you can take the screws out of and get right at it. I put mine on a lift at work so its real easy, but ive done it in the driveway with a jack.

And your car won't sound like a 4 banger with SLP..it's sounds more like a V8 wanna-be...but it sound good. :)

I have the DS CAI and Borla exhaust and love the set up. I would have told you before ordering the CAI to just go ahead and get the stage 2. There really is no "BIG" difference in proformance like the site says. What they exaggerate is the HP gains.....2-3 to the flywheel maybe. As for the exhaust I love the Borla sounds great, looks great. But if your tight on money SLP is the way to go. Heard it on a GA in town not a bad system.....Good luck

I have a kn cone filter on the end of the MAF (think WAI), and increased throttle response and a little pick-up above 3000rpm I think a CAI would be better.
