Hi,

My wife has an 01 Grand Am. She says that when she turns on her blinkers, the clicking sound goes crazy....sometimes very fast or slow or not at all.

All of the bulbs in and out seem to work fine. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be. Maybe a short???

My Pontiac dealer here in Houston said to just bring it in so they can diagnose. Not very nice about it. Everytime I bring it in, it takes days to fix...last time whole engine had to be replaced...took 2 months!!! They really don't have clue about "customer service".

I sure would appreciate any help. These clicks are driving my wife bananas

Thanks!

RJ,

Where did you get the switch and how did you get in to the area above the radio to replace?

I really appreciate the help!

Thanks Sun!

Now I know how to dismantle the facia. Any idea where I can get the blinker switch? Does AutoZone carry?

I appreciate it!

Hey Guys,

Is it possible just to disconnect the clicker and let the blinkers work silently? It's kind of annoying any way.

Thanks!

no, the *clicker* is basicly a relay, it pulses power thru to make your like flash the *click* is just the flasher letting the power through.

I am having the same problem. The clicker is going way to fast. and the blinkers on the left side are going too fast with the clicker. I replaced 3 bulbs. They worked fine then a few hours later the left side (ones I replaced) the whole thing front and back is going nuts.

Ok this is kind of weird. When I found out that part of my brake light wasnt working we replaced the bulbs. we replaced three of them. Put them all on and everything was working fine. Then the clicker was going to fast and the lights were blinking crazy. Opened the light back up and the white backup light was fried to beat hell. So just check your lights out again to see if that is it. Mine are fine now.

I will second gotza's proceedure. First and foremost before buying the silly hazard relay you should clean the contacts in the signal switch control module. Remove 3 torx screws under the cover. remove plastic cover by unsnapping. remove 1 torx screw holding control module. disconnect 3 connectors. open module by removing 10 or so small torx screws & pry one retaining tab. clean contact areas (I just focused on areas where grease was bridging gaps a causing closed connection). Reverse proceedure when clean.
By doing this first chances are you'll fix the problem and save yourself the trouble of buying a hazard relay module or a signal control module. Oh... and you will take pride in a job well done and always be reminded by the lack of "click,click,click,click..."
Thanks again to gotza!

Thanks Ccar...I'll check my reverse lights.

This reminds me that back when my wife got her first G.A. in 1999, I began to notice that almost every G.A. on the road had at least one rear bulb burnt out. It was really unbelievable.

Then her rear right brake light burned out about 2 months after purchase (brand new).

I dug into the rear light assemblies and came to the conclusion that water seeps in through the black covers on top of each rear light housing. I taped up each extensively and I've never had another problem with rear lights going out. (2 cars now).

My question is: why in the heck won't Pontiac fix this obvious flaw?

The next time you see a G.A. on the road, I'll bet you lunch that at least one of the rear lights, brake or otherwise, will be out. Hopefully, the nimrods in design will correct this soon.

Thanks for letting me vent! Have a good weekend!
