hey all i have a 97' gt 3100 and am looking for that little somethin extra to play with. problem is im having a lot of trouble finding mods for either my year or engine size. mostly 2.4L's. at the moment my main focus is on horsepower. anyone have any suggestions on how to boost that. where to find the parts would be appreciated as well.

Underdrive pulley ~$150 for pulley, belt, lube, etc.

WAI or CAI, try ebay first, if u have a system dont go with the underdrive pulley cuz ur alternator will die every other day... custom catback at any local muffler shop, I got mine done at monroe. P and P manifolds, from Donkey Punch Performance. Good luck and go 3100's!
Peace,
Andrew

Please don't give false information.

Your alternator will not die ever other day. If you have an extremly powerful system you may hurt it, but otherwise it's fine.
Testing shows (and you can check thier website for this) that you only lose 0.1V with a heavy load with the UD pulley.

IMO, exhaust is always one of the best starting points.

Voltage is regulated constant. Underdriving it results in less output in the form of current... especially at idle when alternator ouput is not anywhere near the rated current capacity.

Although, this is really a topic for another thread... just so that he's aware that underdriving and moderate to large aftermarket stereos don't mix well.

And as far as my voltage reference, when you are loading any power source, and overload will cause the voltage to drop. If it drops by only 0.1V, it's shows that even at idle, the system isn't being overloaded...unless you have a powerful system.

I just don't like when people give a comment with that much conviction, with no explaination...especially to someone who is asking advice. :)

hey thanx guys. i was looking at teh doctorspeed stage 1 intake. is that even worth getting tho or should i spend the little extra money and get the stage 2? does anyone know if there is any truth to the better fuel economy?

Better fuel economy yes, will you really notice it, prolly not.

they say better fuel economy, but when you slam on the gas everytime you go somewhere cuz it sounds bada$$ I think you lose mileage. After you get used to the sound of the intake i guess you get better mileage, but not much as stated above.

ok the UD pulley is very true, I have a 1000 watt max and about 600 watt rms system and my alternator has died 4 times in about 4 months, I know that the UD pulley results in less output so any less output will def. result in a higher likelihood that he will fry an alternator.
Peace,
Andrew
