yea on a stock bodied 99+ GA,looked ok,didn't look quite right, but I think these will look good in the cut-outs in my Andy's rear bumper, hell I get people telling me" thats a sweet Grand Prix" and of course I tell them its a Grand Am but I figured if people think its a GP,might as well put GP stuff on it:lol:

I've always thought those GP tips looked like pig snouts. I'm not fond of pig snouts.

I've thought that before too but hey, to each thier own. I also think they'd look kinda cool if you'd file a "V' groove, both top & bottom between the circular openings so it'd look more like a double barrel shotgun. Again- that'd be cool, I am very fond of shotguns:D

I like Joey's shotgun take on them, cause I'm not too crazy about pig snouts either.

Has anyone bought those stainless steel replacement tips that are on the G.M. Parts website ? If so, how do they install ? Do you simply put them over the existing (corroded) tips ?
The pic of the replacements doesn't give the impression of any screws on them; just wondering how they are held in place if in fact they do simply slide over the existing tips.....

Tommy I'd think that they would be welded on.. You'd have to take them to a muffler shop and have them tkae off your exsisting ones and they'll weld on the new ones.

The site says no cutting or welding is involved. It also says that they slip over your existing tips.

Probably won't know how they mount until someone has one. The part numbers do say they come with mounting hardware.

Tommy:

$127 bucks vs the 460-shipping for the SLP and the 690ish for the Borla?

Tommy, if you're looking for tips only, and no change in sound, I'm sure you can find much better options elsewhere. Magnaflow makes a nice line of tips IMO. They'll be expensive as well, and need to be welded on, but some of them are really hot looking. :)

The rolled round duals would be about 130 for both required on a GAGT. :)

I meant literally, 'save your money' Why get just tips for 60ish bucks when you could get a whole new set up.. I hate being teased with things...

Many don't like exhaust. Most my neighbors in fact.

Hi Trish, Kyle, and Matt... Many thanks !!! I am going to that link now and read up on that...
My tips are clean, but they don't have that "stainless steel" shinyness to them. The previous owner didn't clean them, dammit.
So I had to compromise a bit; either have black, ugly tips....or clean but non-shiny tips. I had no choice but to wire brush them, so it obviously took some of that nice shine out..

Thanks for the comments; I'll browse around that link and read up about the tips and/or a whole new cat back exhaust.

still pondering, not quite sure,I mean it doesn't cost much to have tips welded on around here,30 bucks or so. If I don't like them I'll just have the ones I have now set back farther behind the bumper so they sit more flush.

oh and as for those Nicer GP tips that GM offers,HA,125 employee price! per tip! Anyways, these tips are slip ons with clamps. We do the change at the dealership,we use pipe cutters(the blade thing that you spin around and squeeze down) then slip the new tips over the stock piping and then use high strength exhaust clamps.

I had the same problem, but i wired them, then used decreasing grits of sandpaper, then metal polish, then NVR-DULL. and here's how it turned out after a day of work.
