I have just purches a 2004 grand am se1 that has the up scale stereo but not the monsoon. I am wondering if this model is xm read or has the option to control sat radio thanks

Not 100% sure, but I'd say more than likely. First off I doubt GM used different stereos in the cars, and second off XM is even available [legally] in Canada now, so I don't think it would be a problem.
Also that Crutchfield link is for an "aftermarket" XM tuner that is made by Terk. Check the Terk website, I'm sure they'd say if it didn't work on Canadian cars. Also buying the Terk, instead of the GM/dealership one will probably save you quite a bit of money.
