prolly a stupid question

Ok for us 3100 guys there are only 2 trannys the auto 4spd and manual 5spd, but has anyone thought about makin that manual 5spd into an auto so us auto guys could get the benefits of the 5spd without having to deal with the installation of a clutch and whatnot... I mean I would love to have a stick but its just no really feasible to drp like a few g's on doin the full conversion, but if there was a cheaper option that would let me benefit from the gear ratios of the 5spd I would definitely consider that. Thanks in advanced and sorry if this is a stupid question again...

There is no 5-speed available for the 3100 V6. But that's another topic...

What you're looking to do is not really possible. Automatic and standard transmissions work in completely different manners. I suggest you take a peek at http://www.howstuffworks.com and check out their articles on both types of transmissions. Once you have a better understanding of how each work, you will see why it's more than just the gear ratios that are preventing this from happening.

did you read that article he posted? They are completely different animals. Nothing in a 5 speed would work in an automatic.

Not possible. Period. Nothing is remotely the same between the two... including the gears themselves. (and that's just the start, not including other issues... valve body, PCM control of, etc.
