had a few ?'s for all the auto body saavy people out there. well on my 93 i have some cheap chrome look-a-like strips down the side. they have a cheesy plastic cover over them, well water has gotten in and all around my car in certain places, inside the plastic covering, it's rusted the cheap chrome crap. it looks really ugly close up, is there anything i can do, could i somehow get them off and than paint over the rust? ALSO! i was wondering the car is 12 years old and she looks great but i think it is time for a facelift. before i ask let me tell you that you cant see any primer or any hints that the clearcoat has been eaten away. OK, can i if i had the time and money, color sand her a bit then buff and polish with different compounds to make her look like new again? i saw and episode on Trucks! once and the guy did this same thing on a 10 year old explorer and the results were great! could i pay to have someone do this or might their be a chance since she is old and weatherd i could burn the paint, since we dont know the state of the clearcoat? sorry so long but let me know!
