I finally decided to detail my GAGT today. I had it repainted about 3 weeks ago and I'm praying that the paint has had time to cure.

I started off by washing with a gentle car wash soap made by Megiuars, dried it, and claybarred it. I'm not sure if I got all the lubricant off, but I didn't think it would be a big deal.

I then used a Poorboy's Polish and then I used Poorboy's EX Sealant with Caranauba. Everything up to this point went pretty well - my car had a nice black shine to it, and the sealant came off super easily. Then I tried to use P21S wax and it didn't seem to work to well. I did a section of my hood and I didn't see much of an improvement in depth or gloss. At first I thought that I had screwed my entire finish and that it was too early to wax my car. I started to see a lot of fine scratches in the area that I tried to wax, so stopped at that point and use a glaze made by 3m.

My question is what actually happened? I admit I was a bit ignorant about sealants before I detailed my car (I'm learning all this while detailing for a dealership ;\), but the one answer I couldn't quite find was - can you layer them? I thought I remembered reading that you couldn't combine polymers and wax, but read on several other websites (autogeek.net for instance) that you can layer them.

I'm also a bit confused because it's a "sealant with caranauba" - so why wouldn't the two be able to be layered? And if you can layer them, is it just too early to wax? What about the layer of sealant already on my car?

Further questions in case anyone is still reading - is there any way to remove a sealant once applied? If they can't be layered, I'd rather wax my car than have a sealant over it. Thank you.

ok well frist off u can layer sealants and wax u just did it in the wrong order. second u should really wait a month b4 waxing a fresh repaint. Now for taking the sealant off the only thing i can suggests if a wax remover. hope this helps i've been detailing for bout 8 years on and off. and when it comes time to wax again do it by hand the frist time.

So wax first then sealants? Would a wax remover remove a sealant?
