i searched but didnt really come to a complete conclusion from what i read but i have hte monsoon system and want to know how to get more bass out of the speakers i already have and the easiest and cheapest way. would it be to change the HU or to change the amp? if i change the amp do i need to change anything else?

you're not going to get more out of the stock speakers. If you change the HU, you'll probably lose bass, but add clearity. Changing the amp would be a PITA. The best thing to do is add a small (or big) sub to the system. Do a search on what you'll need and how to install one to the stock system :)

i added 2 10" infinity refercence subs with a 1000 watt crunch amp to the monsoon system in my car..... sounds great!

Yep add an amp and sub. The only reason I got a new HU is because I wanted to play mp3s.

Easier to add a sub if you get a HU...and get MP3 playback.

i dont want a sub though..cause then i gotta add an amp and all that stuff. but then again i could get one of those cheap subs that come with an amp built in..im not lookin for tons of bass, just a little bit.

Cheap sub = poor quality bass...

If he's not looking for a lot, than a small "cheaper" sub will sufice.

Look into an Infinity Basslink. I heard they're pretty good, and very compact.

Well yes, smaller would be cheaper than a larger one. But you can still buy dirt cheap small subs that sound like crap. (Walmart...)

That's not what I meant because that's not what I said.

I said a small "cheaper" sub...which means (as it says):

small and not expensive...not shit...just not expensive (hence cheaper).

I didn't say anything about Walmart.

I wasn't trying to correct you, I was just clarifying my previous post...

pretty much but has their been any experiments with this? i always read that the speakers can handle more than hte monsoon amp can dish out so wouldnt that mean that u could get a stronger amp and get more out of the speakers?

If you're gonna go aftermarket amp and replace the monsoon amp (lot of work), you might as well grab some aftermarket 6x9's at the very least. Door speakers you could get 4x6's, or get the adapters.

I honestly don't think replacing the amp and/or speakers are going to give you more bass. It'll give cleaner bass, but not more. With aftermarket speakers you'll probably (almost certain) lose bass.

I'd say if you're strictly looking for added bass, a small sub/amp setup is your best bet.

well the thing is is that we always hear people say that the speakers shouldnt blow cause they can handle more than the monsoon amp can dish out..well if thats tru than wouldnt a stronger amp make the speakers louder/more bass?

just get a 12" JL W7 and a JL 1000/1 amp. It won't cost too much... :D

And, I personally have never heard that the stock Monsoon speakers can handle that much more than what the stock Monsoon amp puts out. Like everyone said, if you're looking for quick, easy bass, get an Infinity Basslink. If you want better 6x9"s, make sure to get an amp to go with them.
