Hey everyone i just recently bought a 94 grand am gt and it is a very nice and well performing car. It has a 3.1 liter v6 in it that is surprisingly powerful, it has alot of visual upgrades, but i was wondering what i could do to get the hp rating up to at least 200 without killin my budget, i have about 300dollars to spend on it, thanks.

those 3.1 liters have roughly 155 horsepower i believe? ..... you can't gain 45 horsepower with 300 dollars, you might get 8-10 if your lucky

Three hundred? That will do a cat back exhaust depending on what parts you buy. Probably good for a couple horsepower. Or an intake and some change. Save up and spring for something like headers, which will give you a bigger power boost.

^ :agree:
sorry man, if HP was that cheap, your car would've been maufactured with it.
if you are REALLY serious about HP, some people have dropped a SC'd Series II 3800 (the Grand Prix GTP engine, aka the L67) into their GA... this is A LOT of work, so you might really want to consider building up what you have.

I think there are maybe 1 person for every body style that has even done this. (i know of 1 pre 90, 1 92-95, and 1 99+) But a 3400 swap might be more realistic.

very true...
I know I have seen a couple of older body style GA's with it done (92-98, but I didn't differentiate which)

I agree with everyone else. Honestly yout going to be spending a couple thousand to get that car up to 200 hp whether you boost it or go NA.

A used nitrous kit for $300 would get you to 200hp :D
(and that's realistic ;))

I've just dumped about $1500 in engine upgrades that'll just break me past the 200 crank HP mark. And that's not including part and labor costs to install them or the upgrades I already have. You're cheapest option is nitrous but even that'll set you back $500 plus. Power isn't cheap, especially for grand ams.
