... you could just find some 00+ door panels and use those as they come without fabic :)

I seems like you have three choices.
1. dye the fabric
2. buy new vinyl and glue it over the fabric. Push the edges under the lip.
3. remove the panels, remove the inserts and have them recovered.
I did the third.

Jim said it...
also, you don't HAVE to get vinyl, if you're going to take the time to mess around and re-cover them you might as well get a different fabric, something original...

crushed velvet for example, or tweed

... I am not sure you follow this guy's question so just in case you didn't already know, the 99 GTs (and the 99 SE2s for that matter) have the same fabric as the seats on the door panels unlike the 00+ which are a smooth vinyl :) ... here is an OLD 'crappy' picture of the interior of my car on which you can see how the door panel inserts match the seat material.

lol sorry I'm so sick of seeing cheep home made dashes and such covered in boring tweed.
Nothing wrong with using real leather either. :)
I'm waiting to see someone use the white/black/grey army camo print for an interior. lol

uk2fans i want my doors to look like that also, i will probably take out my door panel and dye them like suggested. u could just go to a junkyard and take a complete door panel and pay for it then dye it while its off and do the switch.

dayum John sorry you were so touchy about tweed. it was just an idea. tweed is "itchy" anyway, like burlap hahaha

I paid about $100 shipped for a set of four door panels. Two of my panels were damaged so I wanted to replace them anyways.
If you can get door panels cheap, go for it. It seems like, sometimes, they would rather crush parts before selling them for less than a premium price.
If I was going to the trouble to remove the panels, I would replace the material before dying anything. You'll get the right color, no fade, no runs or crap rubbing off. The material isn't much, labor is three parts of the total cost.

The inset panels are separate pieces that are held into place with melted tabs. There are two ways to put new stuff on. One way is to remove the door panel, remove the inset panel and replace everything. The other way is to cut the material a little larger and push the edges into the edges.
I removed the inset because I wanted to replace the foam.
