From the thread about F-bodies that was made here recently, I had a question about the F-body "replacements"...
Now yes I know the F-bodies were discontinued completely, but for my intents and purposes, Pontiac used the GTO to replace the Firebird/Trans Am.
Now my question... Chevy hasn't really had anything to "replace" the Camaro. But I recall seeing a vehicle called the Chevrolet SS (no not the SSR, not the Monte or Impala SS) but just plain "SS". I think it was a 4-door in similar fashion as the Mazda RX-8 is a four door (k the doors aren't reversed like that but just the way it looks makes it look like a 2-door). It was a concept car. Okay I found it. It was a 2003 concept car--obviously never went into production.

I had always had the impression that the SS was supposed to replace the Camaro as the GTO did the Firebird. Was I just imagining that or was that actually a plan for this concept car. Why wasn't it ever produced, or was it never intended to be produced???
