Berlin, Germany – The sleaze scandal involving allegations that German carmaker Volkswagen organised and funded prostitutes for executives and trade union leaders widened on Thursday (October 20) with a report that Brazil's current labour minister was involved.
Former VW personnel executive Klaus-Joachim Gebauer stated that Volkswagen's Brazilian operation had been supplied with prostitutes and that the amount of money spent on sex had been far higher than previously reported.
Brazil's labour minister and former metal working trade union chief Luiz Marinho visited a brothel near the Volkswagen's world headquarters in Wolfsburg as the company's guests, according to Gebauer, who was sacked by VW earlier this year
'Girls were dancing on the tables and doing things that men really like'
.
He said: "We took them to a brothel called "Uschi"…they had a closed party there.
"Things got really hot for all the Brazilians - five girls were dancing on the tables and doing things that men really like. Finally they all went off to the private rooms.
"That cost €1000 (about R7900) each."
Gebauer claims he also organised prostitutes for high-level VW meetings in Bratislava, Barcelona and Budapest. He said the total amount of money spent on such entertainment in recent years was about €7-million (R55-million).
State prosecutors investigating the case have so far spoken of VW's alleged spending on prostitutes in the range of €940 000 (R7.44-million). – Sapa-DPA
