I was looking to paint my chrome wheels black for the winter. does anyone have any tips or tricks to paint wheels? do I just toss on a coat, or do I have to sand them down and whatnot?

i am doing mine black and so far i have figured out that you need to sand them down really well and then use whatever paint you want...and then some sort of clear coat on it...as long as they look good from like 10 feet away is my theory

I would probally use a 400 grit sand paper on them, primer, 3 coats of paint, sand them with a wet 800 grit, and then 2 coats of clear.

Kinda strange that you say "for the winter"--it isn't like you'll be able to go back to chrome for the summer, once you've painted them!

well i didnt mean it in the context that i will "take" the paint off when spring rolls around. I just meant that I want them painted before winter time.
