what's the best way to get tree sap off of my car (hood)?
i washed it last weekend and put a bunch of 'bug and tar remover' on it. that helped alot but it still didn't remover all of it.
plus i mangaged to get a big glob of it on my sunroof. should ii use the same method for getting of the sunroof?

How long did you let the remover set? You may need to let it set for a longer period of tiem.

I would try Dawn dish soap. If the tree sap sat too long it may be part of your paint now.

... try a little gasoline on a rag and see what happens ... if it works, you'll definately have to wax the car again :(

Very true. But waxing again is alot better than having sap on your car.

thanks for all the suggestions everyone, i'll try again this weekend with the bug remover and see what happens. if that doesn't work then i'll move on to some of the other methods.

Two others, lacquer thinner and kerosine. Spot test both, but they should be okay since our paint isn't lacquer based.

Dawn dish soap followed by more bug, tar, and tree sap remover should do the trick. The suggestion to let it sit awhile was also good. That should help. I had some real stubborn bug stains all over the front of my car from when I drove to Kentucky last summer that were a real ***** to remove. It took months. I was at it with the bug remover every time I washed the car for months. Just keep at it. It may not neccessarily all come off at once, but if you keep working at it, it will come off. Just don't be too abrasive. If your car has a really good shine on it, you'll notice scratches in the affected area - especially if you use Dawn followed by bug remover. Dawn removes all traces of wax protection on your paint, making it vulerable to scratching when you apply the bug remover and rub.
