Hey guys,

I recently had my LIM gasket replaced, half by me and friends, and half by a local shop ( Reference Thread (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=49950) ).

When I got it back, the guy at the shop told me it was running rough, but it'll get better over the next few days. Well I gotta say, it's running more than rough. At idle, in gear it's missing, and under acceleration, it feels as if the timing is getting retarded randomly. I'll accelerate and it's good, then no power, then fine. There's no corolation to the rpm range either...it's kinda random.

Anyone have any idea as to what's going on? I know when the battery is disconnected for awhile that the PCM has to relearn everything, but this seems like a bit much.

I just want peoples opinions before I take it back to the shop...it's not all the close to me.

Another thing, there is a whistleing sound coming from somewhere (can't pin point it) that sounds like a vaccum leak, but I've checked everything and it all looks good. And the guy said that he heard it but he's positive it's not a bad seal or anything.

Thanks for the help! :)

The UIM gasket may be leaking air into the intake stream, but that, you'd probably be able to determine visually. If you're hearing a whistling noise definitely try to find out if air is leaking into the intake path anywhere after the throttle body. Re-check the vacuum hoses and connections. I don't know about on the LA1 but on the L82 there is at least one vacuum port that has no line connected to it, on the UIM. It is covered with a rubber stopper, check to see if there is anything like that that's fallen off maybe?

You should probably get it code scanned, find out what is misfiring or what else is going on (if it is something else).

Also fuel injector o-ring(s) could be leaking which would cause problems.

I'm gonna slap that repair shop guy around

Thanks guys. I'm getting the ECM reflashed tomorrow at a dealership so maybe out of the goodness of thier hearts they'll see if they can find a leak.

Thanks again guys :)

... I assume all the plugs wires and coils are matched? ... any codes?

i never even checked the plugs to wire to coil numbering. Being that it runs ok most of the time, I assumed it was ok...i'll check anyways Kelly. No codes...well, no SES light or anything anyways.

EDIT: wires and coils are all connected properly.
