Has anyone had any expirence with MA Audio? Im buying a JL 12W3v2 and a PPI amp this weekend and looking to upgrade the PPI amp to a MA Aduio M289i which has more RMS power then the PPI amp does(250watts bridged RMS) while the MA M289i has 400watts RMS bridged.

I kind of figured there would a few that might have something bad to say about them, theres always something bad to everyone but Im more interested in people who have actually had their products and their experience with them

Someone at my school had MA Audio and they were pretty loud from a distance, but I never heard them up close like inside the car.

Their Subs arent too bad. Where they sell audio stuff here. (Illinois) We have a guy who sells ALOT of Memphis Audio. And it's one hell of a beat. From a sub anyway. I've never heard their amps though.

Memphis Audio and MA are different I believe I think that MA was previosly Mobile Athority. I sell Ma subs, there alright. Dont know bout there amps though. But if you are thinkin of buyin an amp for $100 why ask? Your generally not goin to get the highest of quality. Check the distortion rating of those amps. Its probably goin to be about .8% thd and thats not good. You have subs that can sound extreemly clean if you have the right amp for them. Check the distortion rating on the PPI I always thought that PPI made a great amp. Try to find an amp that carries a .05%thd then youll be pounding hard and clean.

well Im not looking for an amp with a whole lot of power, just need something that puts around 300 watts RMS,just have one 12 JL W3v2,not a big stereo buff either so don't need anything fancy or pay a bunch of money when something else that doesn't cost as much but does the job. My last setup(JL 12W0 and a 4channel Alpine V12 amp) was put together for less then 230 bucks so I know you don't have to shell out big bucks to make stuff work and/or last

*Frequency response: 20 Hz-20 kHz *THD: Less than 0.05% *Signal to noise ratio: Greater than 90 dB
found that for the same amp,has less then 0.05% so that should be good from what understood from you?

Yeah that should be good. Yeah you are looking at 300 rms watts to run that sub. Check to see how the voice coils on the sub are wired too. If they are wired in series + to - then you are running at 8 ohms which your amp will not be performing at what the ratings shows. If you take + to + and - to - that will put the sub into 2 ohms youll have a bit more distortion but youll put 3 times the wattage from the amp as you would if they were wired in series. This is harder on the amp but you might not even need to get a new amp if the ppi is rated at that thd. Jl subs like to run with lower wattage anyway. Exp: I had 2 jl w0s that i was tryin to run with 200 w each. I upgraded to a system with over 2400w payed 5 times as much as i had before. I gave my subs to a buddy, he hooked up an amp that gave them 45w each. He stuck them in an eclipse and they out pounded my new system. It disgusted me. Especially cause he never payed for the subs or the amp.

the W3 is a 4ohm sub but I currently have it wired in parallel so its at 2ohms right now,but need to build the right box for it tho.I have a temp box that I have it in and it SUCKS! oh well. Going with the dimensions for the slotted/ported box for this sub. I'll have to see how it sounds with the new box then I'll see how it sounds with the PPI amp I have now. Thnx for the help:)

also make sure that it is CEA 2006 certified, that basically means that the consumer electronics association verified that those specs are true, its to keep companies like pyle and other cheap brands from making bogus claims
if only vehicles had such a ratings board

it appears that the site you have doesn't say, so personally i'd avoid sites that give the bare minimum about their products, i'd stick with sounddomain or crutchfield, yeah the prices are higher, but i'd rather pay $400 for a amp than pay $300 twice because a amp was crappy and the site didn't honor the warranty and the companie didn't honor it because the amp was bought from a non-authorized dealer

true. This amp doesn't seem to have many variations in price on other sites so I'll just try to find another site that gives more info.I'll check out MA's site to see if theres any more info about it.

I found a PowerAcoustik amp, lesser RMS power,360 instead of 400 but I know PowerAcoustik is a reputible company/brand. Any thoughts? Found on SoundDomain

they're a decent company, they used to be way better as well, but they still make good amps for the money

PowerAcoustik is alright too. I think youll like either one. Realisticaly if your are good enough to tell the difference in 40 watts then you have a pretty good ear.

40w goes a long way for highs and mids, but subs require 200-300w to see a diffference

I was also thinking about purchasing a MA audio, but was turned off by all the bad reviews. I went with a Hifonics bx1605, little more $$, but way more power. Totally happy with it. Drives two pioneer 500w RMS subs to the max. Very loud.
Yeah...hifonice are pretty decent for the money. People also have said that their 2005 models are actaully underated as far a power output comparded to their overated older models.

I would look at an orion amp. i believe it is woofersETC that has them refurbished for $100. its a class ab, but its 200*2, of underrated power. which is probably good for around 260-300 rms. the amp retails for around $300 i think or $400. its a 4002. really nice.

I personally have and had MA Audio Amps...
Case 1...
My friend wired my subs wrong and killed the first one i think, or bad ground...
Amp 2
Bad Ground so it fried...
Amp 3... (same as two) Doing good so far.
One thing I can say, they have a hell of a customer service department. I had problems 3 times ( My Fault) and they still replaced mine for free. Each time they gave me a new amp... the third time they gave me and "upgrade." It was weaker, but it was the newer model. Mine only puts out 180rms per channel for the subs... but it sounds pretty good. I never pushed my subs to the max, but its very clean sound.
So theres my personal opionion... if you or a friend messes up, you are covered. Only thing you have to do is pay shipping. and the second time, I didnt even have to pay return shipping. So I'd say they are a good brand.

www.ikesound.com check them out, I've bought stuff from them several times, they're very good, and customer service is great. I have a Hifonics TX1005D and a TX4405, bought from there. The 4405 died after a few weeks and they replaced it immediately. Just my 0.02$, I think the MA will be fine, or find a low powered TX or Brutus Hifonics, because for the price, they're the best performance vs cost, and again, Ikesound will take care of you if something happens.

Ikesound is definately the hook. I had a few Sony Xplode amps and was kind of happy with them, nothing spectacular. You can do better for the money, though.

I have had a MA audio amp for a couple years at least now. The amp is awesome, I had it wired down to .5 ohm stable with three subs and it pounded them. Now i only have two subs, but the same amp, and have had absolutely no problem with the amp. However if you're going to get a high-current amp you might want a capacitor or go with a bigger alternator or something. As far as the amp goes, I've had an awesome experience with it.
