does anyone know what type of battery the remote key for a 1995 Grand Am GT uses? I recently bought a '95 GAGT and the remote it came with had no batteries in it, and I have not been able to figure out what kind to get as the remote is not labeled with the battery type

You know funny enough I didn't even know keyless entry was available on the 95... Anyway if it is a factory keyless transmitter then you'll likely need a CR2032 lithium cell for it. If it is an aftermarket system, then the battery could be any one of a number of different types.
The factory transmitters will actually say what battery they need right on the inside of the plastic housing.

My factory transmitter uses a pair of CR2016 cells. 2032 cells are twice as thick and might not fit.

It's a pair of CR2016 in my 94's factory keyless as well.

Hmm well there you have it, 2xCR2016. Guess the 95s used 6V to power the transmitter. Anyone have any pics of the 95 transmitter or is it the same as the Chevy "square" ones from back then?

well damn, the dealership gave me the wrong remote for my car or something because I put the correct batteries in it and it's not working at all. hmmmm

It's quite possible that the remote has been dead long enough that the code hoping sync is off. It'll need to be re-learned by the car. There's a jumper wire near the module in the trunk, although I don't remember the proceedure at the moment.
