If anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated..

I have gone through several types of wiper blades and they all seem to 'streak', wipe unevenly, or need replacement too quickly.... What type of wiper blades would you recommend?

I use Bosh (whatever the top line is) because there's a life time warrenty. When they start streaking, but take them back :) Costly up front, but you save in the long run.

IMO you can't beat the factory GM wiper blades. I've gone through just about every gimmick aftermarket blade out there, and those work the best for me. They're a little expensive, but the smooth wipe is worth it, IMO.

I replace my blades every year.

I bought the expencive bosh blades myself and they are... alright. But back in feb, I rented a monte carlo and I assume it had the factory blades being as new as it was and those things were amazing. Not a single streak. Driving through a down pour which would have been impossible in the GA didn't even phase this car. I was half tempted to buy some blades at pep boys and take the monte's blades home with me.. lol.

On another note. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the windshield itself. As cars get a little older the windshield takes more and more abuse. Could the microscopic pits and such from day to day driving cause loss in visability and streaking?

Yep they certainly can. Only on my windshield the pits are nothing like "microscopic" they are in full view--my windshield is pretty darn pitted, with even a few full stone "chips". Not a crack yet though *knock on wood*...

But yeah I'd say they do contribute to streaking because the wiper can't contact the glass there and then water gets streaked instead of squeegeed along.

If the windshield is fine, the wipers are good/new and contacting the glass visibly fine, you may have to replace your wiper arms because the springs inside them are worn and not putting enough pressure on the blades.

i love the arista dual wiper blades. ive had them on many cars over the years and leaves almost no streaking. i havent been able to put them on my current GA cause it takes a 22" on the driver side and i cant find an arista 22"white blade. if anyone can find one for me i would be more than happy to buy it off u for a little more than its worth :)

My '96 Sunfire has just shy of 200,000 miles (316,000 KM), and the windshield has at least 3 chips and lots of pits in it. After replacing the set that came on it with the Motomaster Reflex and having no luck, I bought a set of OEM GM blades. They wipe as smooth and clean as a new car.

Nathan or Rob... Could I ask you what program you used to have your graphic appear automatically in your signature area ?
I've been experimenting with both photo Filtre and Irfanview. Just wondering if you made your graphics with either one of those programs.
I fugured out my avatar, but I can't seem to get the larger graphic made.

Many thanks !

Tommy

I used Photoshop CS2 to create it then uploaded it to Photobucket. Then just copied the [img] tag and pasted it into the signature area.

Interesting...I may have to try the OEM blades on my Riviera...my blades are getting to be past their prime.
