I'm helping a friend with a '96 GT which she bought with a non-working sunroof.
I took a peek inside the headliner and it looks like all that's wrong with it is the little red plastic piece that fits in the sunroof motor to bind the sunroof shaft to the motor's output.
Is this piece available on it's own?
I called a local Pontiac dealer and got "A new motor assembly is $300"
I don't think my friend would feel great paying $300 for a tiny bit of plastic.
Is this a junk yard hunt, or is there a magic part number I can feed to GM to get this replaced.
And here's a pic of the clutch.

Well, I checked the local pick-a-part yard but the number of cars there is pitiful and there wasn't a single Grand Am in the place, never mind any with a sunroof.
Anyone know anything about this part?

<bump>
My friend's now selling the car and having a working sunroof would boost the sale value of the car.
Anyone know where I can find this little beast?

If you can't find it. You can try finding a machine shop that'll make a piece like it in metal.
It might be cheaper than getting it from GM.

Looks like something sold only within an assembly. (just like getting a clutch master cylinder reservoir cap means having to buy a whole master cylinder. )
Time to scour the junkyards or see if you can obtain a used pull cheap from a parts locator like www.junkyarddog.com

Unfortunately there isn't too many pic-a-part places up here and the pull it for you places have a habit of looking up retail prices and charging 1/2.
I did check on Ebay and found a motor assembly for a much newer vehicle which looks like it might be the same clutch.

That'd be great if you could take a peek.
If you pull off the trim around the sunroof, the motor is center/front of the sunroof, just pull the ceiling liner down a little to catch a look at it.
The clutch is visible, don't have to pull the motor off or anything to reach it, a flat blade screwdriver should pry it off the motor/geartrain.
Thanks in advance
