Nope, you'll be fine. Just ignore whoever said that.

No one told me that. I was just wondering. I thought the tint wouldn't dry up as well as in summer. If I went to a shop and asked that, of course they would lie about it u know?

The only difference I would say will be the curing effect... Tinters use the sun to help them in a way. After doing a tint job they rely on the sun to bake out some of the small bubbles and what not... Winter time may hinder the curing process but I think ultimately it will cure fine just might take a few days longer.

Yeah I second Big Joe I wasted my AC for like 3-4 days in the summer, it wasnt even that hot but after a day of being in the sun I needed the AC pretty much all the time, I would say winter is better!
Peace,

yea get it done now..perfect timing. and if u need air just open the sunroof :) but i woulding go too dark on the front 2, might make it difficult to see especially if its winter time and too cold to roll your window down just so u can see at night time.

go dark. If your gonna get tint, get tint. Don't get 35% cause that is nothing on the front windows. If you get tint just take the risk, it's only like 100 bucks for a ticket that might be able to get waived. The best look is the same all the way around I think.

Sorry, but I would not like to go dark and take the risk.
I have a 4-door and I have just the rear tinted at 35%. Yeap it was a mistake. I am going to get it retinted at 20%. I think that would be perfect. I am not planning on getting front windows tinted because they are scratched pretty bad. It would be a waste of money to put a film on it to make the matters worse. It's pretty expensive to replace a window and knowing that it will be scratched again, I am not even gonna bother with it.

I have to slightly concur with hodge. 35 is not enough, take it from me, I have 5% and I can see alright at night, just not perfectly, but during the day, 5% is a godsend, no one can see into your car (less likely of theft) it blocks sooo much sun, and it looks sexy.
I get the most compliments on my tint and my tinted tailights bioth exactly matching the black on my car. Its like it was meant to be that way :D

I bet the cops love it too.

haha bjornboy you must have a problem with me. By me saying going dark doesn't need to be limo, it could be 20%, which is dark.
Also it all depends where you are from and how smart you are about it. Every other car has dark tint around here, I dunno about st. Clair shores... but certainly here. If you get tint on the front windows you are taking a risk. You might as well go darker than 35% if you are spending 220 dollars on getting your windows tinted. And after seeing my friends face after paying for tint and at the last minute without telling him, his dad made the tint guy do 35% all the way around, you should have seen how pissed he was. It wasn't even like he got tint.

LOL I was thinking the same thing along with doing this--->
Oh don't worry about the ticket, it's only $100, you could only get that ticket like everyday and it might get thrown out. Nevermind that though... Depending on where you live, the cop can decide your car isn't "roadworthy" and therefore you can't drive anywhere unless you remove the tint, on the spot. Otherwise they'll force you to call a tow truck.
I have 5% rear windows and backlight, 35% on my front windows. And I reverse into my driveway. At night, I do tend to roll my windows down in the rear to see better while reversing. If I were going forward only, I'd never even notice, but try reversing on a poorly-lit (or unlit) street with 5% on the back and tell me you can see fine, because if you can I'd say you're a cat, lol. 5% on the front and it's gonna be even worse because there are no lights illuminating the sides of your car (you have headlights up front, and even reverse lights at rear, but nothing on the side).
As for tinting in the winter, as long as the shop knows what they are doing (if it is a good tint job to begin with) it shouldn't be a problem. Actually it is even better since you won't be tempted to wind down your windows for that first week or whatever as you aren't supposed to. (Me I actually pulled the PW circuit breaker so I couldn't wind the windows even if I wanted to!)

well u can get 5% on the back and 35 on the front like i did. at night time its all pretty dark. and i got the 2 little windows doubled so those are almost completely blacked out. if u get 35 on the front the cops most likely will not mess with u. do u know what hte tint law is in your state? BTW, 20% isnt a whole lot darker either, u should either get 5,7, or at least 15.

I have 5% on my back windows and 35% on my fronts... I'm satisfied.. But not completely satisfied... I will get my fronts done slightly darker.. At 20% But all state laws vary... in IL it's ok to have as dark as you'd like on your rears.. But NO tint at ALL on your fronts.. Just work with the laws.. A little bending never hurt..
Hodge.. don't take his advice :D

Yeap, I have IL plates on my car, so I can follow their rules. But I am not sure if other states can allow me, because my car is mostly driven in Iowa for school.
I said above why I didn't want to tint my front windows. If the rear is too dark, I think it's gonna look awkward. I think 20% would be PERFECT.

I don't have a problem with you, I just don't like how you're so laxed about it. Don't tell people that it's only a $100 if it goes through...It's $100, you have to have it removed in a certain time or it's another fine. You don't just pay it and keep it on!
I have 20% on the back three and 35% on the front and it's plenty dark, but not dark enough to get shit from the cops about it. Yun can get whatever he want's but don't mislead him with a "it's no big deal" attitude.
Anyways, BACK ON TOPIC, tinting in the winter is no problem. Like StreetWK said, the sun really help shrink the bubbles, so that might be the only thing, but over time they will dry, it just may take longer. Talk to Will (wanttomodmyga...or something like that  ) and get advice from him...he has a tinting business.
Good luck Yun :)

I have 5% all the way around, and 30% on the whole windshield. Driving at night has its challanges (if its raining or something of that nature)
if you arent comfortable doing something like that... then 20 is plenty dark but not to bad for a back window...

Just to give you an idea...
Here's my neon.. It had 5% on the back windows..

wont hurt, just take a couple extra days to dry.
hodge, im not pickin on ya either, but most of the time you can't even tell if the back and front are different percentages. unless the back is 5% and the front is 45%, or something equally night/day different. if the back is 20 and the front is 35% most people wont notice the difference and the only reason the owner would is that he knows it's different. my dad has 5% on the 3 back windows of his truck, 35% on the windshield, and 25% on the front 2. you can barely tell the front 2 are lighter. and the only reason he changed it was because of those pesky tickets. it's only $100 a ticket, but after about the 5th ticket you're down $500 and you STILL have to change the tint to something legal. so then you've gotta pay another $100 to get it changed. so it's a little bit of a bigger gamble than you're playing it off to be.
but on the other hand i agree with ya. my tint is not legal on my truck or the GA, but i've been extremely lucky and haven't gotten a ticket yet. been pulled over a couple of times, but always managed a warning. but that's my risk.

Tint on the windsheild is crazy, Brandon! lol :D I know tinting laws vary but I'd have thought like every jurisdiction would make it illegal to tint the windshield.
Ontario laws are retarded with tinting. The back windows--it doesn't matter if you want to paint over those, lol. The windshield, of course, no tint allowed. However here's the best part... The front windows? Officer's discretion. How stupid is that. So in other words if the officer doesn't like it (or you) then you can get a ticket for it; and, they can make you remove it on the spot. Dumbass Ontario law. Most ON officers will accept 35% on the front as an "unwritten rule" kind of thing, but there is no defined law on it--if the officer thinks it obstructs visibility they can ticket you.
Anyway, back on topic... Tinting the rear to 5% and the front to 35% sounds a lot worse than it is. I was "scared" of doing it at first as well--because I thought about the contrast, like it would be too much difference. However when the back gets tinted there's something you don't realise... The overall light in the cabin also decreases due to the tint. Therefore 35% on the front with 5% on the rear actually makes the 35% on the front look darker than if you would have had everything done at 35%. Just something to keep in mind--if you go 5 rear and 35 front, you'll likely be surprised because it doesn't look bad at all.

and no cops have even MENTIONED my tint. but, it was late at night each time (late night speeding is the best speeding, less pedestrians and motorists out in the dead of night)
the cops here havent even picked up on my RED front turn signals, or my BLACK tailights, or my lack of reflectors anywhere on the car. and the car has been like this since mar 05.

theres nothing legal about any of the tint on my car. but like DontPassTheFenc, ive been pulled over 3 times since I have had it... and the one cop that was being a pain didn't mention it... he mentioned everything but the tint :)
light in the cabin does go down some.... but if you have a sunroof, just open the shade if its that big of a deal... but at night when someone thinks that you going 10 mph over the speedlimit and wants to pass you and flips on their brights.... oh 5% is great! you cant tell if they have their brights on or not....
