The passenger side of the transmission is cracked almost all the way around, differential housing I believe. Now what Im wondering is if anyone has any ideas how this might have happened. I was driving on the thruway and after I got off I notice that it was reving higher than usual before it would go, so I new something was wrong with the tranny or torque converter, so I parked and notice it was leaking lots of tranny fluid, after getting a tow truck that lifted it up I could see the problem, anyway I did a quik search and found this thread

Then went to grandamgt.com found the other guys pics,

mine is cracked in the same place except its a smooth crack, not all jagged like that, and I did'nt feel or hear anything, really strange I thought

Any ideas

Ok so from what I've found out so far, I should be able to just replace the differential housing, as long as there is no internal damage. Has anyone done this, how difficult will it be to put a new one in and where should I look to find one? Junkyard? Parts Store?

That is caused by either brake torqueing or quick starts off the line and is usually accompanied with bald front tires, a sure sign of abuse. :D

I've seen this more than once. We just slap in a used transaxle.
