Hi,

Just want to know if 4 8" subs at 100Wrms each would play louder and just as low as 1 12" at 400rms.

I was thinking about getting 4 Infinity ref 8W40 to replace my infinity perfect 12 since I would be able to build the enclosure for the 8" inside the rear seats and free up some more trunk space.

This would only happen if the answer to my question above is 'yes' :-)

Thanks.

There's about twice as much surface area with 4-8" subs than 1-12" sub (201 sq in. vs. 113 sq in.) so it'll play louder, but the 1-12" is going to play deeper.

this is all theoretical...I haven't personally heard either one in the respective sizes you're talking about. :)

you could also think about 2-10" which is right in the middle of the two :)

it all depends on the amps ohms and the speakers ohms if you set it up right either will sound nice but i prefer the way a 12 hits

i think you could make the 8's be louder, but i doubt you'll ever get them as deep. 4 8s with a bigger amp would be neat to have, definately something you dont see a lot of
